So it seems the issue is with maybe the Plex Movie agent and not TMDB, which is what Radarr was having an issue with I believe, as discussed previously. Not saying it isn’t related somehow though (does the Plex Movie agent use IMDB, TMDB, or both?), though suspect that this seems to have started happening to both at the same time also.
@sublimesed@August23@razvan.constantin@DomiStyle Just wondering if you all are still having the issue? Hopefully not alone in this since it seems like multiple people were having the same issue.
As a side note, and not to discourage anyone from using Plex or anything, don’t force this task upon it as a software platform.
Plex is great at what it does, but give it clean file names and data to work with. Using a tool like Filebot makes media renaming and matching easier from my experience. You can script and automate your renaming processes for Movies and TV shows, decoupling them from your Plex environment that way.
This allows you to feed Plex clean Movies and TV shows that are perfectly named using proper databases like TheMovieDB and TheTVDB. You’ll have to write some scripts, but I imagine a lot of you guys are able to do that handiwork. This is the Linux thread. You folks are smart
The config folder is owned by 1000:1000. Same user is also running the PMS process. I’m running plexinc/pms-docker:latest.
A slightly different problem: /data/movies_uhd/Ad.Astra.2019/Ad.Astra.2019.Remux-2160p.mkv doesn’t get any matches at all when using auto match, removing the year and only searching for “Ad Astra” works. Are you not supposed to put the year in the file name anymore?
Yes. Hunger Games started appearing again, still no luck with Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
My files are named by Radarr/Sonarr and it has worked for years now. Whatever changed, it came with an update.
Any updates, ideas, questions, or suggestions? I see a couple other people talking about this on the Plex subreddit. I tried loading a couple again after coming home from work and still nothing has changed.
@ChuckPa any new thoughts on this? As I noted above there was not only this thread but a couple more I saw on Plex’s subreddit as well.
I just updated to newest version 1.18.4.2171 and tried again and the ones that were failing before still are. I’ve given up for now and am manually fixing the match using TMDB when the Plex agent fails to work. That’s not ideal but is a work-around for now. Here’s the ones I tried and the results:
Gwendoline (1984) - failed, used TMDB
The Daytrippers (1996) - failed, used TMDB
Togo (2019) - success
The Lighthouse (2019) - success
Joker (2019) - failed, used TMDB (this is 4K version)
They span a few different libraries as I have separate for movies, kid movies, and 4k movies. The first couple that failed have been doing so since the beginning and the couple that succeeded are newer and hadn’t tried previously. The last (Joker) failed, but it was previously failing in 1080p before as well and I used TMDB on it then as well. So it is a small sample, but it seems the previous ones that were failing continue to do so, but the couple newer ones worked. I’ll have to continue to monitor and see if newer ones work or it just happened that those couple did.
Here’s a debug log from scanning the above and manually matching the ones I had to.
Yes, Please make a ZIP of the “Data” directory (in particular all the HTTPCookies) files. (Don’t copy/paste then here because the forum will hide any CR/LF pairs)
Also, did any of this PMS installation come from Windows?
We are finding that CR/LF characters are finding their way into the cookies which, on Linux, causes major problems.
@ChuckPa Which “Data” directory are you looking for? I assume it is a subdirectory somewhere under one of the top level directories?
My Plex did originally start out as a Windows install a long long time ago, at least 3-4 years or so ago now or more. It originally started on a Windows Server (2008 R2, if I remember correctly, possibly 2012) VM, then I converted all my stuff to Linux so it ran under a CentOS VM for a while, and now that I’m on unRAID I use it under a docker container. Each time I’ve moved the entire PMS directory over to the new platform so I didn’t have to rebuild my entire libraries and the large amount of customization I’ve done. It worked surprsingly well each time. The only painful part was having to reconfigure settings when going Windows to Linux since they store that in different ways (registry vs cfg file). Could there still be artifacts from that original Windows install years ago just finally causing issues now?
Also, to show I’m not the only one still, here’s another response to a post I put in the release thread on reddit.
Just checked and my Data folder is almost 4GB and 48K files. Can you be more specific on which files you need? Otherwise will take a while to zip the whole thing and I’ll have to find a place to upload it and send you a link in PM.
What we’re interested are the metadata directories so that would include system, TVDB and TMDM. Or everything except that one which is so large for you (maybe you can get rid of ?)
We are interested in obtaining them as they exist.
ASS/HAMA is an anime scanner and agent. I also excluded a couple others that were decent sized (couple hundred MB) from other third party agents/plug-ins and got it down to 40KB zipped, which seemed much more reasonable!
Thanks. you do have one instance of \r\n (CR/LF) which should not be there.
The next step is for @sa2000 to determine .

Stuff seems to have started working again. Not sure if it was an IMDB API issue or something with Plex’s cache, etc., but added a bunch of movies last night and none of them had the problem. Hopefully that continues. Will update if it starts up again.
