I cannot get it to match any movie even when I try it manually.
If I switch the library to The Move DB no problem, I get everything needed.
and a RED icon saying I need to upgrade it to Plex Move that doesn’t work.
and If I leave it on Plex Movie I loose all my posters and other metadata.
I’ve been running this for way more years than I want to remember.
But I never had such problems till someone decided to make money on this project,
Now things seem to just keep breaking.
I won’t hold my breath on a fix, experience taught me that Plex fixes things when it’s in their interest to do so not mine.
Guess I’ll jut put up with that red icon.. (upgrade required)
This is what I get with the modern scanner/agent combination for “Bury Me When I’m Dead.” (The poster you have is available, but this is the default.):
I used this naming (my “movies” library points at movies).
.
└── movies
└── Bury Me When I'm Dead (2025)
└── Bury Me When I'm Dead (2025).mkv
I can try some others, but I suspect you’ve got some folder organization/file naming issues to work out. The new scanner/agent combination is a little more sensitive to organization and naming. Particularly when it comes to the extra “stuff” that’s sometimes seen with the release groups. It’s better to stick to clean names; or put all extraneous information in a single pair of square brackets so it is ignored .
The button works (I’m on Ubuntu and the button worked fine for me years ago), but it may take some time to fully upgrade your movie library. Losing your artwork may occur as metadata from the new agent and sources are being used to replace the old metadata - this can be slow depending on your hardware and how busy the server is.
Try clicking the button then going to Console or since your on Linux, open a terminal and run
It worked till about a month ago when all my posters started to disappear and get replaced with screen shots. All all the metadata got removed.
I posted this information back then but with all the plex fires going on nothing got done.
It was this way for weeks before I started trying the other agents and found that switching to The Movie DB agent allowed me to manually update moves and a series.
To manually change them all out of the question.
Found the next day my posters and metadata was returning.
Then a few days later that red icon showed up wanted me to upgrade.
without thinking I did. Next day no posters or metadata again.
After you upgrade the library, try doing a library scan and refreshing metadata. No manual changes should be necessary - I’m running Ubuntu 24 with the latest version of Beta PMS and my matching works flawlessly, posters, metadata and all.
couple of notes; after restarting PMS it was running fine. A new folder was created in that Codecs folder immediately but added no files.
the first file showed 8 mins after the restart, (yes I timed it)
and then another one a few mins later.
also at first it would only let me do a manual edit with The Movie DB, plex movie wasn’t an option. After files showed up in the codes sub folder, I could manually edit a movie with Plex Movie
