Plex Music Library Structure Gone following new HDD Install

Hi,

I spent ages organising my music library in Plex so that 100s of random cd singles were filed as themed albums eg Random Hip Hop Trax, Random Dance Trax etc.

Everything was working fine for a year or so and then my “Basic” setup of a single HDD pool 1 Volume 2 crashed and burned. Luckily I recovered the data, replaced the dead HDD as Volume 1 (can’t seem to find an option to set the new HDD as volume 2) and copied Music to the new HDD using the same file structure. I also copied across the Plex Media Server folders across.

Unfortunately when I create a new music library in Plex, the old albums I spent ages creating (Random Hip Hop Trax, Random Dance Trax etc) do not appear.

The only thing I can see that is different is the volume number of the new drive. If I change the volume of the new drive to volume 2 will my old albums appear?? If so how do I do this??

Or do I need to change the Volume in my Plex Server Files to point to Volume 1 rather than the old volume 2?? If so how do I do this??

Or am I barking up the completely wrong tree??

Many thanks for any help you can give.

Once I fix this I am gonna buy another HDD and move from Basic to RAID 1

Edit the library section and ADD the new path on volume2. (Don’t forget to give plex permission to read it)

DO NOT delete the path reference to volume1 yet. By keeping it, PMS will save all it knows.
When it finds your media on Volume2, it will start showing duplicates.
After all music has been found, you can then remove the Volume1 reference, scan again, and Clean Bundles

Thanks ChuckPA, that worked a treat. i wasn’t looking forward to re-building all my libraries as it is very time consuming.

Wish I had posted sooner

Thanks Again,
Steve
