Plex Music Matching Problems

Can someone go over the matching issues with Plex?

I have six Weezer albums. Weezer has titled their albums by:

Weezer (Black Album)
Weezer (Red Album)

How do I get the proper matching from all the albums with this artist? I’ve tried the naming albums as:

Weezer (Black Album) (2019)/01 - Can’t Knock the Hustle.mp3

Any suggestions?

I don’t have that particular album, but I’d try the following path/filename:

Music/ <--- Music library points here, name does not matter
     Weezer/
          Weezer (Black Album)/
               /01 Can't Knock the Hustle.mp3

It’s how my Blue Album and Green Album are organized and they’re matched fine.

That’s how I have it labeled and it’s given me big trouble with the albums. The Black Album is mixing with the Green Album. The thing is, I cannot unmatch or break apart albums from Weezer that Plex already matched so I can put the tracks according to the albums.

Is there any way to force them in some way?

You can force it to un-match the album by moving it completely out of your library’s scan path and doing a scan. After, empty the library’s trash, clean bundles (Settings -> Troubleshooting), and double-check the path/filenames. I’d recommend removing (2019) from the path, I’m not sure how Plex will handle it. After that, move the the album back and scan again. Collectively, these steps are known as the “Plex Dance.”

Also, make sure the scanner and agent for your music library are both set to Plex Music. You may also want to check the option to prefer local metadata. These are all on the Advanced tab of your library’s configuration.

Beyond that, make sure your tracks are tagged properly, paying particular attention to Album Artist and Album.
