they are 2 totally different servers and assign different ID’s.
I use the movie database for naming because it provides better/different info, like absolute number for example show 147. After naming it with the Movie database the TV database works better on matching.
the last is the Personal one, that one usually has better artwork especially with multiple seasons.
BTW
this doesn’t fix the problem which I think stems from the path & naming.
How would I match it to the movie database first, as you suggest, and then to the tvdb? because plex seems to by default want to fix it to theTVDB first.
edit: i set the movie database as a higher rank in the tvdb agent, lets see if that works
edit 2: that worked
and again, I NEVER EVER had this issue before, I use this naming like forever (been using plex for years), and now suddenly it’s a problem
You can go to the agents settings and change priority that it uses by drag n drop I think.
Anyway getting later here so good luck. I’m sure @GoRichard will help more but will follow the thread tomorrow if you’re still having issues.
see my edit above, I changed the order in theTVDB agent and set the movie database on top, problem solved.
So weird, because this problem just suddenly popped up without me changing any settings myself, so either plex must have reset something itself. Also seeing i did a clean install of a new server and same issue.
good one to remember then on any future new setup… set the movie db on top instead of theTVDB
you can change the order in the AGENTS section of the Server Settings.
I use the MovieDB for naming, the TVDB for match TVshows
Show Name (years)
Season (years) [audio channels] source -video
episodes
show name s00e00 absolute airdate - title [audio channels] source -video
– this is an example of the original name below and renaming above–
I wouldn’t do that, the TVDB is better with description and similar shows info. 5% of the time the MovieDB may be better but usually it because of naming and file path.
just keep it in mind and do it manually when needed.
