Unsure what logs exactly to upload, so rather hear which ones we need here before I start uploading everything.
The problem started a couple of weeks ago, when adding NEW series (so completely new series, not just new seasons or episodes), it would download metadata like descriptions and ep titles etc. but no poster. Weirdest thing, it would do it on some new series, so no consistency.
I of course tried resetting the agents and clearing cache, but it didn’t seem to work.
I read somewhere else that it might be a DNS issue, so I changed the DNS server, nothing here either.
It doesn’t affect the films, all the posters are nicely added there.
Anyone has a clue?
Please tell me exactly what log (what folder and what file) you need to see to help solve this.
I installed another server, let it do a fresh scan on everything.
Same as with the other server, all films download posters properly, and then series, only 5% downloads posters, all other metadata is being downloaded.
I’m starting to grow ever more confused… is there anyone who could help?
these are the logs on the new server (will delete after some days)

which was the name of the initial show that didn’t down load ?
if it’s Chicago Fire, I have that and have all poster info. just moved it to another server and the info downloaded.
is the show matched ?
that file path seems long to me and may be confusing info in the path. mine is similar but the stuff within parentheses is ignored.
U:\DramaTV\Chicago Fire (2012)\S01 [AC3 5.1] BR -720p\Chicago Fire S01E01 (10Oct2012) - Pilot [AC3 5.1] BR -720p
Absolutely, and as said, other series as well, like dc’s legends of tomorrow
(on new server)

(on both servers)

matched to the right one, metadata downloads, all correct episode information, but no posters or other episode pictures
yes windows based, one server is now on the latest public 1.16.0.1226 (not beta) version, just updated, tried updating, nothing happened. The new server is on the last version, also windows based. 1.15.8.1198
I’ve only had this happen when rebuilding my library and they eventually downloaded. On the first server, have you tried matching it with the Movie or Personal database ?
@GoRichard sorry that was the player version not the server.
Also, tried matching with anything
@Xhaka it has never been an issue before, matching works (automatically)without any problem, the only problem is the poster/artwork not downloading on newly added series. (which in the past has never been a problem, and now (to check if it’s not the machine) on a new server, same series (an almost all other series, as seen in my previous screenshot), it doesn’t work).
so there must be something wrong with connecting/downloading posters/artwork, because everything else is working just fine.
edit: i just tried matching dc’s legends of tomorrow with the movie database, do a metadata refresh, and now that one does add posters… let me try with other series
Yeah it’s the way Plex is.
100 badly named files that identify and add metadata.
1 file that doesn’t and the reason is there are 101 files named badly.
I actually have that series, those exact files for that series in fact.
Apart from the naming though, although I’m no expert at reading logs, can you just show your folder structure for Chicago Fire?
Edit. Yeah you should be able to manual force it.
But would you really want todo that forever?
Edit 2. Did you really mean movie database and not tv database?
I get that, but on another server that serie DOES work automatically (same source folder).
And again, ALL other metadata DOES download. So it’s being matched, just no poster download.
Weirdly enough, a match fix (while there was a match in the first place with tvdb), I matched it with the MOVIE (???) database, and now it dit download the poster for DC legends of tomorrow.
Just did the same thing with chicago fire, and it also works… BUT HOW, matching it with the movie database manually instead of automatically with the TVDB
Guessing, gonna have to look at my agents now that they scan on both, despite it’s being matched on the one, it should aparantly also check the other.
It’s very weird, because this just happened from one day to the other without any changes (from my side in the settings)… And installing a nice new, non settings changed server, same problem.
yeah me to, and seeing your edit, YES, really the movie database when I manually let it fix match, if I fix match on the tvdb, it does find it, it matches, finds all other metadata like actors and descriptions. But no serie/season/episode posters. (but it does now when I manually fix it to the movie database… i’m so confused
