Okay… I had allowed Plex Server to update, and encountered the problem. Rolled back to 1.18.1, and encountered the version issue - too old to work with Roku. So I downloaded to current version, and now it found the tv card.
but here is the troubling part. I may not know if the problem has returned, until I look for a program that didn’t get recorded.
I think all who are affected by this issue would probably welcome a response from Plex at some point. I have asked a few times now and not had any acknowledgement. Any update?
@ahiyahiya is the Plex employee who had responded in here a few times over the past few months and who I was helping to get more details about the issue, but I have not heard any updates for two and a half weeks now.
Whether or not a final fix is in sight, it would be nice to know if the issue is still being actively looked into, what other information those of us who still have the issue may be able to provide, and I am more than willing to run a test or diagnostic copy of the Plex Server to help the developers get the details they need to get this resolved.
Hi @JimWise74
The issue you wrote about above is being actively worked on.
It does take a little time to get code in place and tested: since Plex Tune Service is on multiple devices and multiple OSs, any changes made have to be thoroughly vetted on the supported OSs first.
I just ran the update for Plex Media Server 1.21.1.3830 and am still having the same issue. The release notes mentioned a fix for starting up Plex Media Server on Windows machines under load, so was hoping this would be the fix.
I saw the notice about having to delete and recreate a new DVR and reschedule recordings. I have a LOT of recordings set up so I am NOT looking forward to this, and not sure when I will have time to take care of that. Not sure if that plays into any of this or not.
I hate to be That Guy, but I’m cancelling my Plex account due to this issue. One reason I started using Plex and bought an officially supported tuner was to avoid hacks, workarounds, and things breaking for no reason. More frequent and clearer communication would help, without users needing to prod Plex, but even with that it’s been three months and things are still broken.
Having the same problem. I did get the Tuner/DVR working but only until the first reboot. It seems if you uninstall everything, turn off the computer, unplug it reinstall everything, and buy a rabbits foot it will work. But only until the first boot. Maybe someone could make a .bat file to automate this. Hope a fix is found soon.
I know that request was made partly in jest, but someone posted their .bat file doing as you request about a month ago to this thread (apparently the formatting of the original post gets lost when included in a link to it, but if you click on it, it will jump to the original and you can see the proper formatting):
Anyone know when Plex will fix this? I don’t remember getting an update but it just stopped working. Hauppauge dual tuner works fine, and Plex finds it, but cant find any channels on it.
Tried reboots, stop/start Plex servers etc. No joy.
Just rolled back to 1.18.1.1973 and everything is working like before. I tried 1.19 and 1.20 and it didn’t work out.
With 1.18.1.1973, detect my DualTuner, Channels scans ok, EPG ok. The problem is really on Plex side…
Same issue seen on latest version for me. DVR is half the reason I got a Plex pass and they seem intent on keeping it broke. I keep having to roll back to 1.19 to keep this core feature working…
I just bought a Hauppauge WinTV- quadHD and Plex will not find it. I can watch tv using the wintv app, but plex will not find my tuner.
I have tried rolling back the versions as stated above and Plex will not find the tuner regardless of plex version. Any more ideas?
