Plex no longer sees my Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD tuner, "Add Device" scans forever

Maybe the driver can be used by only one application. As soon as I de-installed WinTV, plex found the quadHD for me. After a power-off and fresh (not quick) Windows 10 start on 20H2.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t have that app or any others that use it installed.

I’ve renamed the devices sub-folder under resources, ran the plex service in various compat modes, as admin, and checked the registry for keys that would relate to adapters. Nothing seems to help and I don’t have an old version installer handy.

Hauppauge drivers sometimes go away upon Windows update. Maybe need to re-install the drivers from the Hauppauge page, physically power off, and start without quick start. Plex Media Server v1.21.1.3876-3c3adfcb4 and Win 10 20H2 work well for me and a Hauppauge Quad. Does the card show in the Device Manager? Mine has it twice as Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD (Model 1661xx-1, Dual DVB-T/T2/C, IR; second same name dubbed xx-2, without IR) in ā€œSound, Video, and Game controllersā€. Driver software download is v1.59.37308.0 dated 4.11.2019 if that matters. Hauppauge calls it [WinTV-quadHD driver version 37308] driver85_1_59_37308.exe)

Yes, the card shows up in the device manager under the ā€œSound, video and game controllersā€ category as ā€œHauppauge WinTV-dualHD ATSCā€ I downloaded the newest driver from the Hauppauge website before uninstalling/removing the device from device manager and checking the box to remove the driver. I then installed the driver from the link below, rebooted, and still have the issue. Thanks again for the suggestion

I uninstalled the WinTV app and restarted the server. I went into plex and plex found my tuner, as 2 different ones as it should from what I have read. It started scanning channels and then mid scan it gave me an error that the tuner was not found and now it will not find the tuner again.

My last post in this topic summarizes the current state of scanning channels with a Hauppauge tuner.

Seems that all topics found in this forum boil down to the same conclusion.
Problem got fixed 2-3 months ago for windows.
Problem still exist for Linux servers.

Looking forward to a reply from the Plex support team.
Would be awesome if this problem gets fixed for Linux servers as well.

Can’t see any mention of this in the release notes - was it in the release today?

Unfortunatlly not. I updated my docker container but the problem still exists on my side…

@ahiyahiya Is there an update please?

@ahiyahiya Is there an update please? 5 months since this broke now.

same, any response on this…please

@ahiyahiya Anything in the latest release?

Thank you @ahiyahiya for letting me know that you are no longer connected to Plex.

Can Plex tell us who is picking this issue up now and when we might get a fix?

Same here, have updated and downloaded drivers from hauppauge, with no luck. Plex does not detect the tuner. This happened during the last update, to version 1.21.3.4046

To add to this, have installed WinTV 8.5 and 10 and it can see the tuner also, and operate as normal. Have since uninstalled wintv, devices and reinstalled drivers with no luck.

Still just get this…

Supported DVR Tuners and Antennas | Plex Support - Hauppauge Quad is on the list

Have updated plex to 1.21.4.4054 so last two versions have the issue, and

Windows Details are;
(only patch applied since the upgrade plex upgrade is the flash player removal)

Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 20H2
OS build 19042.804
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

Any suggestions?

There seems little point in asking any questions on this forum now, Plex seems to have gone to ground.

maybe @elan can get someone to have a look, other threads are starting up also.

My plex server starts but is inaccessible now sine it lost the DVR and I rebooted. The entire thing is down.

5 months now. Anyone out there?

For the problem with Hauppauge DVRs where the Plex Tuner Service process was shutting down soon after launch, there has been a further fix that has just got release in 1.21.4.4054-bab510e86
