Plex no longer works since updating iOS

Since I updated to the latest iOS version on my iPhone (25.5) and iPadOS (26.5), my movies stored on my WD My Cloud Home hard drive have stopped appearing in Plex.

Plex version: 2026.9.0 (1704)

This already happened once before and it lasted a whole month. It’s a nightmare to be a Premium user and have the service stop working like this.

Can you help me?

Thank you very much,

I’m running an iOS version even newer than that and haven’t seen any issues. Granted, my server is running in a docker container, so it’s probably different from your configuration, though I did just do major upgrades across all my hardware and software this evening, and the whole family did tests post-upgrade to make sure all was functioning properly.

Are you able to provide more details about your configuration and the exact behavior you’re seeing?

Thank you for your quick reply.

I have the Plex server installed on a WD My Cloud Home. Since the latest iOS update, when I open Plex on my iPhone or iPad, the movies stored on my hard drive no longer appear — only Plex’s own catalog is visible.

This is the same issue that many of us with WD My Cloud Home experienced a few months ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards / Hugs

I’ve never run Plex on a small NAS like that for any length of time, but have you already gone through the information in these links and checked to see if they’re related or solve the problem? I’m not sure if this is the time period you’re referring to, but was just searching for previous threads related to issues on My Cloud devices.

My prior experience trying to run Plex on a small consumer NAS was always poor for a variety of reasons, but if all your content will direct play, I assume it should be usable with a reasonable number of concurrent streams.

I remember this being an issue for some Roku users after their devices replaced the old app with the New Experience app. The problem was their Pinned libraries hadn’t been carried over to Favorites on the new app. They just needed to go back and re-select those libraries to bring them back to the Home screen. Have you checked if your libraries are still listed in the menu?

I just tested it, and after waiting a long time, the movies finally appear.

However, some are missing their cover art, and I get this error message when trying to play any of them.

“Network Error” is not a comforting message after an iOS update, but not sure we can take the word of an app that has a history of displaying incorrect error messages.

I would suggest you uninstall the Plex app, reboot the device, and reinstall it and see how or behaves with no data carried over from the old iOS install.
