Plex not detecting one particular TV show

I have been using Plex for years, it has always detected TV shows grabbed using sick rage. For some reason, one particular TV show is not getting detected. 4 episodes so far have been grabbed over time by Sickrage and none of them show up as they should under Plex. I have checked the naming, which is all handled properly by sickrage… I can’t figure it out. The show is “The Third Day”. Anyone having problems with this show or any idea why this will not even show up at all in my TV library?

How do you have the show named/organized?

This works on my system:
/TV/The Third Day (2020)/Season 01/The Third Day (2020) - s01e01.mkv (corrected, initially had a typo).
The year is required. If I leave it off, Plex mis-matches it to a different show.

right now Plex is not even detecting the files, regardless of whether it would be a correct match or not. Its like it doesn’t even see them at all.

They are being downloaded by Medusa (ie, sickrage) in the following structure

/tvshows/The Third Day/The Third Day - S01E04 - Monday - The Mother.mkv

for example…

weird though, I added (2020) to the folder name and suddenly Plex sees it… alright…

That should work, a season folder is not necessary. I removed the season folder & my system still recognized the files (I’m running Plex on a Synology DS918+).

Guessing, but maybe file permissions?

Yep. But at least it is working.

I’ve had a couple of other 2020 TV shows that needed the year for Plex to correctly match them (although it still recognized the files).

Not sure why. Think I’ll just chalk it up to 2020 weirdness. :slight_smile:

It makes sense that it might not match without the year, but it doesn’t make sense that Plex wouldn’t even detect it at all, even with an incorrect match.

Do you have the anime show Haikyuu? For some odd reason, TheTVDB returns that as a match for “The Third Day” so it may have gotten merged with that.

I do have that show and that explains it. After adding (2020) to the folder name, the confusion went away, but that explains it entirely. Thanks.

A little more info/confirmation on the above:

Renamed the show directory from ‘The Third Day’ to ‘Third Day’. Scanned library files and saw ‘Detecting Intros for The Third Day’. Show appeared in Plex as The Third Day after scan. Seems to be the same outcome as renaming to ‘The Third Day (2020)’ above.

Renamed directory back to ‘The Third Day’, scanned library files and saw ‘Detecting Intros for Haikyuu’. Show appeared in Plex under Haikyuu after scan. I did not have that show previously.
