I’ve got plex running on ubuntu, and it’s working fine for serving up all my local content. I’ve got an HDhomeRun connect (HDHR4-2US) that works fine for all other devices on the network (mac, fire tv, android, etc). I’ve even got the hdhomerun-config package installed and the gui tool and am able to watch live broadcast tv on the server where plex is running. However, on the “settings” page for my plex instance, there is no yellow “Set up Plex DVR”. I’ve been digging for a while and I’m not sure what I’m missing. I’ve made sure to download and install the latest plex pass update version and bounce the service (even going so far as rebooting the server because why not). Manually configuring this looks like it requires a direct update of the sqlite plugins DB which I’m not enthusiastic about, and the verbose logs that plex spits out don’t contain any obvious exceptions that I can tell. Any advice on where to proceed?
Machine Details:
PMS version: 1.11.1.4760
Host OS: Ubuntu 17.10
CPU: Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1225 v5 @ 3.30GHz
Anything else of interest? Any other steps I can take to give more info that might be useful?
Sorry I should have been more explicit, the section is there on the left nav, but the button on the page when viewing the section isn’t present, like so:
I’ve tried with chrome (from both mac & windows desktop) and firefox (mac, linux). I’ve tried both the local network IP (192.168.1.4), the loopback IP on the box (127.0.0.1) and the https://app.plex.tv/desktop url. Nothing seems to have an impact.
yeah it doesn’t help. One thing I found interesting is that in specific scenarios I get a message about needing a plex pass, but I do have one (I think you have to have one on this forum?), for example on the “sync” screen:
@nokdim I addressed that in the first post; yes I’m able to use the hdhomerun-config-gui package to view the images on the plex server itself. Nothing.
Do you happen to have any laptop you can install a test PMS on so not your Linux box so that you can isolate it to that system or something else?
I can try on a windows PC, but what would that tell me? Wouldn’t an equivalent answer being to reinstall the entire linux PMS instance and see if that solves it? I’d prefer not to lose my entire configuration, hence my ask if there was any logs or sqlite digging I could do to figure out where the issue was.
I am assuming your HDHR and Linux machine are on the same network segment?
yeah it’s a simple home network, 192.168.1/24 is DHCP managed by a home router and the linux box which plex is on and the HDHR have static IPs set in the management software. Nothing fancy.
If I told you to reinstall your PMS you would lose your entire configuration hence the reason I am asking if you can install PMS on a different one to test so you can confirm if this is your Linux box and eliminate possible account, network or any other issues that might be impacting this so we can focus on the root cause instead of taking shots in the dark without causing problems with your existing setup.
Plex resources did verify your PlexPass account is active and valid.
Can you please do the following -
Restart the Plex service on that system
Wait 3 minutes while Plex is starting before attempting to connect or play items
Post your logs
Hopefully this will be able to provide validation that connectivity to plex.tv is working properly to help pin point the cause and help provide a resolution.
Attached all the logs from the directory. I do see the HDHR getting discovered and lots of activity, but no obvious errors, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
