Plex not picking up .srt subs

Plex doesn’t see the .srt file with the video! File is named exctly same as the move by picking properties and copying the name and pasting it ahead of the .srt Ideas?

can you paste the names of both the movie and the subtitle file?
Are they both in a dedicated folder for that movie or in an overall folder with other movies?

Naming should be either…

Movies
  My Movie (year).mkv
  My Movie (year).<language code>.srt

or

Movies
  My Movie (year)
    My Movie (year).mkv
    My Movie (year).<language code>.srt

with <language code> being a 2 or 3 character language code (e.g. en or eng for English).

  • Upper- lower-case is important, even on Windows.
  • The Local Media Assets agent must be active
  • the video in question must be “matched”

I added the year to my video name S01E02(2017) and it was picked up immediately. Sill messing around to see if the brackests are actually needed.
Thanks!

When it comes to TV shows, naming should be like this:

TV Shows
  My Show
    Season XX
      My Show - sXXeYY.mkv
      My Show - sXXeYY.<language code>.srt

or

TV Shows
  My Show (year)
    Season XX
      My Show (year) - sXXeYY.mkv
      My Show (year) - sXXeYY.<language code>.srt

Where XX is the season number and YY is the episode number.
The show name (My Show) and year in the show’s folder and episode names should match.

I second this issue.

i’ve had no problems for a long time until now… did something change?

my file are “tv-show.mkv” then “tv-show.srt” and/or “tv-show.en.srt”

plex is still not recognizing them.

That’s plainly wrong. And Plex won’t recognise them, because they are not even named like a tv show.

I’m guessing, but add the year after the show title. That fixed my problem.
