And start getting those server logs together because we will dive into that next to figure out why your video playback is failing.
It’s a Marantz SR7012
Yeah will work on server logs
Looks like that model does support Dolby Vision
As with the TV, please ensure HDMI Deep color is enabled on the receiver.
That is on page 203 of the manual at the bottom of the product page.
OK let me check it out
Here’s what I got from the marantz support “What it is saying is it supports Deep Color (as a pass through), but it doesn’t have an actual setting to activate or deactivate it. If the source has it, the SR7012 will pass it through to the screen.”
As written on page 203 of the user manual, make sure you have the 4K Signal format set to Enhanced
Yeah 4k Signal is on Enhanced.
Interesting as my Denon’s have a specific Enhanced Mode setting. Would have thought Marantz would be similar.
Plex will need logs to find the issue though. You seemed reluctant to provide logs in the other thread of yours.
Troubleshooting becomes difficult when new information is provided such as an AVR involved.
This doesn’t appear to be a Plex issue given the other person in this thread can play the same material.
I also noticed another thing. On the NUC, I have only 11 GB of free space. When I was trying to play Alita 4K, it says my disk space was 0 and I need to free up space. Think this is another possibility? But when I stopped playing the movie, the disk space went back up to 11GB.
Yeah this could be my NUC problem since your NUC can play DV fine. I’m trying to clear up more space now. Maybe that’ll fix it.
Yes that would definitely be an issue if your server is out of storage.
This is an apples to slightly different apples comparison. The fact that we are able to Direct Stream the media negates the hardware comparison since the server is not having to do any work other than transcode the audio.
At this point let’s avoid any further theorizing until we see the server logs.
Understood.
Is there a specific file you’ll need in the log?
Just found out that the problem my 4K AppleTV can’t play the DV videos is because AppleTV can’t read the dual layer file of some 4K movies. I’ve downloaded the plex app on my LG OLEDTV and I’ve been playing those DV files just fine. But when I play the same 4K movies on the 4K AppleTV, it doesn’t play. I am very disappointed with Apple on this. But at least I’m able to play 4K movies now! Thanks for your help!
