Plex not scanning folder from Synology NAS

Hi everyone,

Having an odd issue with Plex through my Synology NAS (DS218+). Up until this point, I’ve never had any issue syncing content from the NAS to Plex. Everything always shows up, even if metadata isn’t always accurate. Running into an issue now where isn’t showing up at all on Plex. I’ve made sure to check proper naming through TheTVDB, made sure folder permissions are accurate, moved the folder from one section to another. It’s quite frustrating and wondering if someone can help me out. (Log files attached).

From those logs it seems you haven’t scanned your library since early December (which seems to have failed because Plex couldn’t find the folder D:\TV\ (maybe the share was unavailable or mapped to a different drive letter).

How exactly did you try to add those files to your Plex Media Server?
Does Plex scan your library if you trigger Scan Library Files from a library’s context menu ()?

That’s so strange. I add and scan folders pretty regularly and I’ve never had this issue before. I added this folder the same as I always do: make a folder, the same as the file name, and then add the files, named according to TheTVDB. Did the same with this folder. And the other items in the folder show up in Plex as well.

Did you at any point actually trigger a scan from within Plex?
Mind sharing the specific example?

Yup, just added six new items by scanning from within Plex.

And here’s your mistake:
Do not – under any circumstances – add media in the Plex share. As all the funny 0-byte files in your 1st screenshot tell you in many different languages.

If it ever worked, you got lucky.
This share is supposed to be used for the server’s data directory and configuration. It’s hidden by default on purpose.
