so i’m running low on space on my nas so i got a second one and wanted to add the folder location to the same library. so under ‘TV Shows’ i selected edit library, went to Add Folders, did Browse For Media Folder and was able to select the shared folder on my new nas. so the two folder locations are:
/volume1/NAS2-TVShows/TV Shows
/volume1/NAS3-TVShows2/TV Shows2
plex doesn’t give any error but when it scans the TV Shows library it doesn’t pick up the files in the /volume1/NAS3-TVShows2/TV Shows2
is something wrong with my configuration? is there a way to force it to scan that particular location?
i had added ‘plex’ user to the permissions but not the Plex Media Server. after lookin at your faq i looked at my first share and it had it and the plex user so added the PMS and now it scans. thanks!
Synology made us change username.
We lost all our privileges at install time
Given how much needed to happen, that’s why I moved us to the new shared folder PlexMediaServer (to match the new username)
This made the plex & Plex → PlexMediaServer & PlexMediaServer transition easier to follow.
As you move forward, If you ever add media and Plex doesn’t find it,
remember SMB copying often doesn’t pay attention to the privileges on the NAS.
All you’ll need to do is the “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files” as you reapply permissions in that shared folder
You can remove user plex. It was abandoned as of DSM 7.
I would have removed it and made a clean transition but DSM 7 didn’t give me permission to do so
