Anyone know how to fix an issue where the plex web app scans but dose not add any new content and dose not refresh any metadata
Assuming you’ve added compatible media, Plex has most likely added the files. Depending on your naming, the files might have been accidentally merged with some existing items or mismatched.
You can filter your library for Duplicates to identify items that have multiple files assigned to them. You can then check which files that is (e.g. using
> Info or ⋮ > Get Info).
If the files don’t show, sort your library by Date Added and see if any of those recent additions seem off / don’t belong.
I’ve had the same issue since v1.25.9.5721 (PMS-Docker).
After thinking it was the database or permissions, which I confirmed those were good, since I hadn’t touch anything in many months. I started from scratch and same issue, wouldn’t import stuff. Then I rolled back to v1.25.8.5663, changed nothing else, just hit scan library and it picked up everything it was failing to auto import.
I tried going to the latest build a few days ago, figured I’d wait a few builds, but the same issue came back. Rolling back again makes it work again. Odd thing is, on the latest build, when I manually load an episode into a folder, I see the scan process trigger automatically as it should, but it doesn’t update the database to show there’s a new episode there.
Open to suggestions, preferably not deleting the library again, sucks having to go figure out what you already watched.
File naming is a common issue. Please share screenshots of how the files are named and organized.
Unless my issue is different than OP, it sounds rather similar (wasn’t intending to hijack the thread), I know mine isn’t file naming. As I said, from one version to the next, it stopped importing, but rolling back it just imports automatically as expected. The file naming convention I’ve been using is rather standard and has been working without problems prior to 1.25.9.X.

\Series Title [0x:00] - Episode Title.mkv
Season folders should be named only Season 01.
Episode numbers must not be enclosed within square brackets [ and ]. Plex ignores text within square brackets.
Episode numbers must be formatted as sXXeYY.

Thanks for your help, while the folder structure isn’t an issue, I’ve tested it both ways and they both work, the square brackets in the episode name were the issue and changing to the season format of sXXeYY alone does the trick.
Guess I missed the release notes on 1.25.9 under fixes.
- (Scanner) Improved parsing of certain episode filename formats (#13419)
I dug deeper into this and seems that the improvements of the parsing now treat anything within the square brackets as hidden data.
Again appreciate the help! ![]()
Cheers!
