For around the past few days, Plex has stopped scrobbling tracks from TIDAL to Last.fm. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting Last.fm in account settings, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Plexamp but unfortunately nothing changed. Plex still scrobbles music from my local library.
Is this an issue other people are also having? It’s a shame because I much prefer plexamp to the native TIDAL players but until this is working again I’m having to stick with their apps
I just rebuilt my music library at the start of Aug. I found that the meta data services wouldn’t connect. In the following weeks several tagged items were not retagged after I restored the files. I found this this forum earlier. Hope it helps.
Unfortunately, my personal music in Plex is scrobbling just fine, and I have no issues with my media library, however music listened to on TIDAL through Plex doesn’t scrobble at all
Gave it another try on my drive home this evening and it doesn’t look like anything scrobbled.
I’m also wondering how many people this affects, because the number of people who use Plex, TIDAL and Last.fm can’t be that great…
From what I gather, here is what’s happening (and afaik, nothing changed recently):
Plex Media Server (shared or managed) is the component that sends your plays to Last.FM/webhooks to tell those services an item has completed playing.
‘Universal queues’ where TIDAL and PMS content is in the same queue, will scrobble everything to Last.FM. This happens because all play history is being tracked/generated by a PMS instance.
TIDAL sourced queues, where you are browsing the TIDAL section of Plex/Plexamp and starting a queue from there, are not scrobbled. This is because the play history has nothing to do with a PMS instance, and thus is never scrobbled.
Would playing TIDAL content that has been “added” to my local library qualify as well? This is the only way I listen to TIDAL content.
It worked for the most part yesterday, but seems to be hit or miss this morning. Driving to work this morning, I was listening to a TIDAL album from my local library with Plexamp on my phone. All of those plays appear to have been scrobbled. Right now I’m listening to a TIDAL album from my local library via Plexamp on my office workstation. I’m not seeing those plays being scrobbled.
Just testing this with a queue with a mix of Plex and TIDAL tracks and only the Plex tracks are being tracked.
Previously all TIDAL tracks were scribbled whether they were part of my library or not (I listen to my TIDAL mixes most days and they would all scrobble) even with no Plex tracks in my queue or having been played
Thanks for jumping on this. I’m having the same problem, which I noticed yesterday. Looking back at the scrobbles on Last.fm, it looks like it’s been a problem for over a week. (Last time I see a Tidal-sourced track in my last.fm stats is Sept 4th).
I have a smart playlist created of songs rated 4 stars & higher and last played date not within the last year. Songs from my library & Tidal sourced tracks are combined, and tracks from both sources have always scrobbled ok until recently. I usually check my Last.fm stats every day, so I’m surprised I didn’t notice this earlier.
In the past, I believe the Tidal sourced tracks scrobbled any time I used the Plex app to play them, no matter which library initiated the play.
I’m currently on PMS Version 1.20.1.325, and experiencing the issue with Plexamp on the iPhone and the PC desktop Plex Web 4.42.1.
Ah, there does seem to be something amiss with that. I just added an album to my ‘library’ from TIDAL, via Plex and played the album. My webhook for ListenBrainz picked up the plays fine, Last.FM did not. So if one is working, the other should.
And it is working occasionally. Like I said, I had the some of the TIDAL plays from Plexamp on my phone being scrobbled the past couple of days. It eventually stops as well though (maybe when the album changes).
And for me, nothing Tidal-sourced has scrobbled for over a week. I’m watching my last.fm profile like a hawk. Nothing recently. The local library tracks scrobble fine, though. So, if I’ve got a playlist randomly combining tracks from both sources, 100% of the local tracks scrobble, but 0% of the Tidal-sourced tracks scrobble.
Thanks for keeping the heat on this… excited to get this functionality working again!
Also experiencing this issue. I don’t typically add Tidal content to my Plex library, instead relying on the “My TIDAL” library or simply listening to various albums/songs via search/browse. But none of my Tidal-sourced tracks are scrobbling using any Plex client I’ve tried (Plex web, Plex Android, Plexamp Linux, Plexamp Android). I also have Tidal linked to Last.fm separately, and tracks I play in the Tidal Android app scrobble just fine.
I still have Plex connected to Last.fm, but I’ve also configured Plex to scrobble to ListenBrainz (I’m liking it better). It uses a webhook to do so and TIDAL scrobbles are being made.
