Plex not showing missing albums via Tidal

Plex is not showing missing albums from artists via tidal. I understand this is a new feature.

Is this the web app or PMP?
If it’s PMP, which version?
If it’s the web app, did you use the ‘hosted’ version at https://app.plex.tv/desktop ?

Here is the url:

https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/server/dd8805ef6138ef8f3dff93e1b58f77ca45613257/details?key=%2Flibrary%2Fmetadata%2F6165

I am using the Web Client version: 3.77.2
PMS Version: 1.14.0.5470

I do have a reverse proxy setup but I noticed none of the Tidal stuff works when using the reverse proxy so I went back to using the hosted version. Will this change at some point?

I also just tried to use the Windows 10 Universal app and notice that none of the Tidal integration is there.

Have you scrolled to the very bottom of the screen? In your screen shot it doesn’t look like it.

I assume you are using the ‘local’ web app then. This is still an older version than what is available on plex.tv, so you might at least have to wait for a newer server release which has at least version 3.77 of the web app bundled.

This one hasn’t been updated for over a year, so doesn’t get new features.

I did scroll all the way down and it is still missing.

If I bypass the reverse proxy I show that I’m using 3.77.2 of the web player/client.

Not sure why it doesn’t work, I’ll probably just have to wait for an update or something.

Is there perhaps some library configuration requirement for this to work? Mine only uses embedded metadata (since it’s perfect and all online matching has been terrible) and the Personal Media Artists agent.

The developers say no, it all depends on the artist’s name being a perfect match.

However, by using the Personal Media agent exclusively, you will also miss out on the new ‘radios’ in Plex. They all require last.fm data to work with, so I recommend to use a regular last.fm library, but configure it so that your file names and embedded meta tags take precedence.

Hopefully this will get fixed, I was most looking forward to this feature along with the discovery features.

After a reboot of the server, sometimes the extra tidal info will load for an artist but navigating to another artist and then back to the original artist will cause the tidal info to be missing.

Just tested and working for me. Are you sure you are matched properly?

What would be the best way ensure the match is correct?

I’m pretty sure it’s based around the name of the artist. Best you can do it just make sure artists are named properly. If you have an artist in your library who has the same name as other artists, it could (and has for me) display results for the wrong artist.

I’m pretty sure that it is matched correctly 1/10 times it will load the info for a specific artist. If it was not matched I would suspect that it would always fail. Not sure what’s going but it really takes away from the Tidal experience. I wish Plex’s support model was a little better and that staff would actually look into some of this.

Pull up the XML for one of the tracks in that album and provide that to me.

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

The part that really confuses me is that when I pulled up this artist to get you the xml the tidal info loaded as shown below however when I selected another artist and then went back to this artist the info is missing. I’ve attached both screen shots below.

The view is generated each time you visit the artist page, so if you don’t see it all the time, it could be a cache issue of the browser or a race condition where it renders the page before the info is retrieved and then doesn’t update itself like it should. Look at the scroll bar on the screen when visiting an artist. Since the info is added dynamically, you should see the bar change to show the relative size of the page as it adds that info.

@ MovieFan.Plex
Given this affect’s all all browsers and also both of our android phones, also across multiple different wan connection, I’m guessing it’s a race condition. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

I did try clearing the browsers cache as well but the results are still the same.

If it’s a race condition, that will require a PMS update. I’ll pass this along and see if the devs find anything.

Can you check the dev console in your browser when viewing these pages and when there isn’t any Tidal content, check if there is an error.

@anon18523487
Errors for sure! Here you go.

Hope this helps. If I could get this resolved Plex and Tidal would be a match made in heaven!

Hey, I deleted those. Can you PM those to me instead.
