Found a way to open directly a working Plex from your phone when you are on the same LAN.
First you need to set your TV to use a pre-shared key.
- Navigate to: [Settings] → [Network] → [Home Network Setup] → [IP Control]
- Set [Authentication] to [Normal and Pre-Shared Key]
- There should be a new menu entry [Pre-Shared Key]. Set it to 0000 . If you choose anything else, you need to change that pass on the curl command below.
Next you can install the app called “HTTP Request Shortcuts” and add a new shortcut.
When adding a new shortcut select “From cURL command” and paste the follow:
curl -v -XPOST http://YOUR_TV_IP/sony/appControl -d '{"method":"setActiveApp","params":[{"uri":"https://plex.tv/web/tv/opera"}],"id":4,"version":"1.0"}' -H "X-Auth-PSK: 0000"
Remember to change the “YOUR_TV_IP” to your current tv ip. And if you changed the 0000 pass to anything else. change it to in the end of the curl command.
Save it as “Open Plex” or the name you want, (and also you can set the icon image the same as Plex) and if you hold your new shortcut you can add it to your home screen as a new app for a one click open plex with no ads or app opened in the phone
