Plex on Android TV isn't getting the attention it needs

I love Plex. I am a heavy android tv user, and the plex app on android tv has some very old bugs that no one seems to be doing anything about …

  1. Sometimes scrubbing back and forth on a video causes the video to freeze or crash plex altogether
  2. For videos already in progress, long pressing on it and selecting “mark as unplayed” marks it as played instead
  3. When watching videos back to back in a playlist, the videos don’t get marked as played as each video completes but instead I have a stack of videos with playback almost complete but not
  4. The up and down scrolling on a playlist causes a weird animation screen skip when scrolling up again after scrolling down

Other than those bugs, one of my biggest feature requests is the ability to control what libraries my shared users see in their sidebar rather than them deciding this themselves.

Tell me about it. Lately performance has just been sucking. Sometimes when playing my 4K Blu-rays the player just totally dies like you stated in #1.

Also, when scrolling through my library, none of the plex posters are cached so it just looks and feels slow because it doesn’t load the posters until I stop scrolling. On the Apple TV app all of the posters are cached so it just looks much faster/snappier.

One more thing is that the preroll feature doesn’t work properly on Android TV. The movie starts playing first and THEN the preroll plays. Sometimes it only happens for a split second, sometimes it plays for 2 seconds. This causes the TV to enter HDR mode and then back out and go back to SDR to play the preroll. Also, it just ruins the immersion of the preroll watching the movie start playing and then it stops and plays the preroll… On the desktop app or even on my Android phone the preroll loads/plays before it attempts to play the movie.
