Same problem here. New content added is not found by scan. PMS Version 1.13.4.5271. For those of you who attempted resolution through rebuilding, thank you for sharing your experience, I won’t do the same.
The same problem here. Also, found some flickering on 24Hz. Tuned autoframe off…
Issue isn’t just on shield. Having the same problem on Ubuntu server. Music library scans fine. Videos will not.
Only installed plex yesterday, rolling back isnt an option for me. Will try the alternative scanner as I only have a few movies so dont need any other libraries locally.
this worked for me also, thanks
Thank you this works.
It must be the Plex media scanner that is bugging
Has anyone heard any updates on this or are we going to be left in the dark?
Being told the issue has been recognised and if anyone is working on a fix or not would be nice.
A little reassurance goes a long way.
We are usually kept in the dark. I personally haven’t seen a Plex employee acknowledge issues posted here, they just end up getting fixed at some point. Perhaps less time on News and Podcasts channel development would prevent these types of issues from happening. IMO They’re straying to far away from their core product.
Thank You, it worked for me too, at least for Movies-
Has anyone found any workarounds for TV Shows?
thanks, Marco.
Having the same problem, stumbled on the “File Scanner” agent solution for movies.
Please fix!
Same here it is failing to scan …for Movies and TVShows

Same problem here, glad I only try to rebuild only one Library and not the whole server…
Yeah I had to set my Shield to not auto update and uninstall Plex Server updates. All is working without latest updates.
Still a mess no LiveTV now on Shield … going to scrap this server on my Shield all together for now.
I thought I would let you guys know that you can side load the previous update from apkmirror. Just uninstall updates and install the Plex Media Server 1.13.4.5251 (smb) apk with es file explorer. Pretty easy fix until we get an update.
@synyst3r1
but uninstalling the update will wipe the entire library correct? why do that?
@mhsnow A lot of us just got the shield TV on Prime Day so most of us don’t have a library yet.
I see, well for the rest of us we should just wait until a new beta comes out to fix this issue.
Yeah I got one on Prime day and was looking forward to testing the external storage with oreo and latest Plex server. I have my main Plex server untouched.
what @umaradam said works. At least it gets in the database and shows up but there’s no good metadata. I changed it back to Plex Movie Scanner and it kicked off another scan which grabbed the correct metadata. It’s a workaround but it works, at least it did for me.
Thank you @synyst3r1 I didn’t think of that!
I can happily announce, I’m back up and running on 1.13.4.5251.
For anyone unsure of how to do as this gentleman has suggested, you’ll find plenty of videos on youtube that will walk you through it.
Thanks again.
