Does the Plex team usually make bug reports / some communications about the fixes ?
I don’t see anything
Same problem here. No Movies and TV Shows are added when updating libraries. Hope for a fix soon.
Interestingly, enough, stuff recorded and then added into the same libraries that wont add new titles are added into the library fine
Thanks this sounds like a good workaround, although a bit counterintuitive for someone who just bought the Shield device.
I have tried to install the apk you suggested, but for some reason installation failed at the last minute. Need to investigate more. But this sounds like the best option so far.
in case anyones interested, emby now have a fully working version of Emby Server now for shield…
https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/53944-emby-server-for-android/page-1
I’m going to check Emby out - can’t be worse than a Plex server with no actual content on it!
Does the same, transcodings not as good at the mo, but it does have developers that actually respond to users on the forums…
Last time I checked Emby did not do hardware transcoding… so I found it not good at all for remote viewing… if this has been fixed I have not seen it.
@elan did the developer for PMS on Android nvidia shield do any test before releasing software update to public?
Because if yes, I think he is probably lying…
I, like many other in this thread and other posts are complaining about the fact that the latest PMS on Android nvidia shield ( 1.13.4.5271) is completely broken. Scanning media such as movie and tv does not work at all. I can see from Samba logs that plex is scanning the files, but none of them get added to the library.
With so many issues reported about plex on Android i wish the developer involved take a deep dive into the issues and really be more careful about developing a software…
No way they tested this … if they did they need to look at their testing procedures.
it does now have transcoding but its not a patch on plexs - Youll get a decent single stream out of it at the mo
A single response from a developer stating they are aware of the issue might be nice…
Hell will be frozen?
That’s all I ask …
Tried emby yesterday on my shield. Unnecessary transcoding on almost all of my files and none of them were fluent. Beta it is indeed.
No substitute for Plex with this setup at all.
I think the problem could be they tried to release urgent fixes for issues they didn’t found and because they based it on the development branch they introduced new problems, and then kept doing the same.
That can happen and I think must of us would understand but what I can’t understand is the total lack of feedback specially when they broke something that was working fine, and this time it is a major issue, not being able to scan files at all.
Not being able to fix smaller bugs is worrisome as well. I mean, I understand that the major issues come first but that way smaller issues will take a very long time to fix, and users will get very frustrated. Why not have some people working on the smaller issues and the rest on the major issues? That way some progress could be made without compromising fixing the major issues.
There must be half-dozen threads about this exact issue by now… I wouldn’t be surprised if the Devs are all in some private part of the forum or group chat laughing right now at this mess… In the 5-6 threads about this, There’s tons of people resetting their devices over & over again trying to fix this (+ setting them back up again…), Adding & removing large amounts their content on their HDD’s over & over again trying to fix this. God know what else… All of this could be avoided if Plex came out & announced that their aware of this & maybe added a sticky at the top of the forum (Like they did yesterday with that Synology thread) letting everyone know their on it. But no, We have all these threads with god know how many people resetting devices & formatting HDDs just because they cant be arsed to assure people that a fix is in the works & let others with this issue know that the issue is with Plex, Not their devices/content.
It’s far more likely some dev is almost crying for his/her mistakes and being pressured to fix them now than laughing at us. They are people just like you and me, it’s fair to criticize them for their mistakes but there’s no need to be so harsh about it, specially when we don’t know what’s really happening behind the scenes and well, for me that’s the real issue.
Here’s the dev’s response: https://forums.plex.tv/t/error-scanning-files-on-nvidia-shield/285600/64?u=rbmaster7
My post wasn’t harsh… Maybe a little… But that’s just 3 days of frustration Im afraid… Like I said, After the first 20 or more users with this exact issue, Plex could have easily notified us that their looking into it or even just replied to try & guide us through this. I mean, The hole point in moving to these forums was also to help us & Plex to get help sooner… 3 days mate & not 1 reply until a few mintues ago in another thread with these exact issues… Its been a joke mate… 100%. Thats why I said their most likely having a giggle somewhere, Because they havent been here thats for sure…
