I go to Plex app on PS3… like I have since it was released.
I go to pick user … and the name under the avatar… turns red — and then back to orange… and does nothing.
This worked yesterday – … and it has been a few days since I upgraded PMS to latest version… so I don’t understand what might have changed.
I am able get to my library from Android, Web, etc… but the PS3 is not behaving correctly. I rebooted the PS3 … still no joy.
I removed the PS3 as a device … and readded it … no joy.
Tried xbox app — and had no issue … but it doesn’t prompt for home users, so I am guessing that is where the issue is in clients or server… not sure which (or if my guess is right)
Vizio app … has never been stable for us … and it is misbehaving now - but I am not sure if that is the Vizio app … or if it is having a similar problem with PMS as the PS3.
I don’t know all my version numbers… and I apologize for that. But I am on the LATEST PlexPass versions of PMS … and latest downloads of Android, Windows 7,Vizio, PS3 and Xbox…
The only clients I haven’t checked tonight are the Roku and Roku-Preview…
Tried PMS downgrading to the publically available PMS (xxx.4) … all same behavior
Upgraded PMS back to .6 (skipping .5) … all same behavior
Went to try disabling SSL … and got “Server Settings not Available” error. on xxx.4 and xxx.6.
Found support pages that discussed what to do – I removed Framework and System bundles… – uh – they never come back. I tried repairing xxxx.6 … they never come back. but I am back online in Web, Windows HTPC, Android, xbox… even without those. So - I assume the version of PMS that integrated those into the release … must put them somewhere else?
So - really don’t know what to do next - as I have run through everything I can think of – and research.
Basically – my PS3 is dead to me now… which I could probably live with … but Server Settings is scary - as I cannot configure my server anymore…!!!
Hi fetlock-plex. I’ll ping our support folks to help with your server settings.
When push comes to shove the PS3 app can be uninstalled and reinstalled. Or, I think, the application data can be deleted by pressing the triangle button when the app is selected.
It sounds like you’ve jumped around versions a quite a bit, so maybe something didn’t install cleanly one of the times. Looking on your account, it seems you’re running PMS on Windows. What I’d recommend:
Uninstall Plex Media Server from the Control Panel
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\
Delete the “Plex Media Server” directory there (to be clear, we’re talking about the Program File installation directory and not under your AppData directory)
Install Plex Media Server fresh again
If you still see issues, looking at the log files would be the next step. Grab the full server logs (including the entire “PMS Plugin Logs” subdirectory), zip them up, then attach the zip here.
I had actually tried the steps of completely removing Program Files\Plex\Plex Media Server … (after uninstalling of course) … and still had the same issue.
After getting back from work – I tried something else – I removed the Plex app from the PS3 – and had it reinstall the PS3 app … and … I am working again! Thanks for the suggestion… (wish I didn’t have to do it … but – it worked. so … thanks!)
I still have “Server Settings are Unavailable” … but I already posted about that on the PMS group.
