Plex on QNAP can't catalogue New Doctor Who even with tmdb ID in file name

Server Version#: 1.24.5
Player Version#: 4.63.0
When cataloging files I have the file structure as recommended eg.

/Doctor Who (1963) {tmdb-121}
/Doctor Who (2005) {tmdb-57243}

All the files from the 1963 folder are recognised and the meta data is pulled down
Nome of the 2005 files are discovered

I have the same issue with other series that were rebooted and have two different entries in TMDB and TVDB. For all of them I have the TMDB ID in the folder name but the rebooted version isnt recognised.

Named this way ? (emphasis on the files)

[chuck@lizum tv.2004]$ cd Doctor\ Who\ \(2005\)/

I have it named exactly as you see here. There are no difficulties matching it

Hi Duncan,

It’s working for me without the need for TMDB numbers. How are you naming the files?

Naming example:
/Doctor Who (2005)/Season 01/Doctor Who (2005) - s01e01 - Rose.mp4

See here: The Great (2020) season metadata not pulling through - #11 by drzoidberg33

I suspect this is your issue. Awaiting feedback from tvdb.

I have tried exactly the same naming convention as you recommended, i.e.
/Doctor Who (2005) {tmdb-57243}/Season 02/Doctor Who (2005) S02E01 - New Earth.mp4

and even
/Doctor Who (2005)/Season 02/Doctor Who (2005) S02E01 - New Earth.mp4

and they are not discovered when I run ‘Scan Library Files’ It only appears to happen where a series has been rebooted ie Doctor Who (1963) Vs Doctor Who (2005) or Dexter Vs Dexter new Blood

but thanks for trying.

I’m not sure this is the issue as the symptoms are slightly different. taking the Doctor Who example, all the episodes i have from Doctor Who (1963) are being indexed and the metadata pulled (I am using the tmdb id field not tvdb but have also tried that as well) but it is not finding anything for the Doctor Who (2005) folder so no entries at all are being populated in the plex screen.

Thanks for the help though

file paths for example:

/Doctor Who (1963) {tmdb-121}/Season 01/01 - An unearthly Child (4 Episodes)/Doctor Who - S01E01 - An Unearthly Child.mkv

this works and full data is available.

/Doctor Who (2005) {tmdb-57243}/Season 02/Doctor Who (2005) S02E01 - New Earth.mp4

is not found and there is no Doctor Who (2005) folder listed in Plex.

As I mentioned i also tried changing the indexes to the tvdb ones without success

I;m having the same issue with Dexter vs Dexter new blood - Only the original Dexter files are discovered

Thanks Chuck. i think my naming and structure match. Do you also have the Doctor Who (1963) file structure as I think the issue is with rebooted series when you have both?

just to double check this is not a typo, you are missing a dash in the filename between (2009) and s02e01
/Doctor Who (2005) {tmdb-57243}/Season 02/Doctor Who (2005) dash here S02E01 - New Earth.mp4

So with nothing to lose i followed the instructions in this article The Plex Dance ™, moved all my TV series files to a temp folder and cleaned my Plex Server as per the article. So far i have moved back the Dr Who and Dexter folders and they appear to have been correctly recognised and indexed. Will move back the rest of the files in stages to see how it goes.

OK - so I can confirm that this appears to have resolved the issue. I am slowly moving back all my folders now, but everything seems to be scanning and pulling the meta data correctly. The Dr Who and Dexter/Dexter new Blood folders are correctly recognised and catalogued.

Thank you to everyone who tried to help.
