Plex on QNAP unreachable

Server Version#: 1.18.6.2368
Player Version#:

Since the outage last week my Plex install - working perfectly for quite a long time, with regular updates - has stopped working. I cannot reach the admin interface (for me, https://xxx.xxx.xx.x:32400/web) with any browser, lost the Samsung TV app & iOS apps’ connectivity. In short, after a brief moment of now it works, I’m back to the server not responding.

Rebooting the QNAP or removing/reinstalling the Plex package do not help.

Can any1 help on how to start debugging this?

PMS debug Logs please, and in a zip

Same here - same issue across TWO different Plex media servers, running on QTS 4.4 - on QNAP TVS-1282T3s. Both different servers, same issues. How to submit logs when I cant reach server?

Thanks. I have attached the files here for you at the link below.

Thanks…

According to those, you have timeout on your DNS!

Feb 08, 2020 15:34:09.638 [0x7ff184406700] DEBUG - HTTP requesting GET https://206-252-195-226.15008f20f8bf4348b93ba0c52cc9ecb4.plex.direct:28926/identity

Try for a short test and switch the server PMS is running on to use Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

Then restart server and try again

Hi,

thanks I tried that. no luck. Restarting PMS from command line gives this error:

Error: Unable to set up server: listen: Address already in use (N5boost10wrapexceptINS_6system12system_errorEEE)

I have no other PMS’s running, port forwarding is enabled. The Server itself is in a DMZ anyway.

Then you didn’t restart your QNAP!

I have the same issue here, but have no idea what steps I have to take to follow the above instructions.
Detailed help would me much appreciated.
Thanks

Are you on QNAP as well, or just jumped in?

I am on QNAP. Or what do you mean by “jumped in”?

That we again and again see people using other server platforms, hoping that a guide for one platform works for another, like Mac or Windows

Look here:

And click on DNS

Thanks a lot. It worked.
Three more questions.

  1. What was wrong before, i.e. what has changed since Plex last worked?
  2. I now have twice the same server-name in my plex interface. Once working, once not. Why is that?
  3. Do I have to rebuild all libraries?

Plex sadly had an issue with their auth server, causing PMS servers to get a new token

Strange, and not seen before…

Go here:

https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/devices/pms

Find the one that is the oldest, and delete that

I 4 sure hope not

Hello,

I have what seems to be the same issue : server on qnap TVS 673 cannot be found through https://xxx.xxx.xx.x:32400/web or http://xxx.xxx.xx.x:32400/web

I have followed the advice given here, changing the DNS & restart. No change. I have tried :

  • from a clean PMS install
  • to migrate the PMS install on another HDD of the NAS
  • log-out, stopping the PMS, restart, and log-in through incognito mode.
  • changing forward ports to 32400-32400

No luck for any of these.

Here are my logs. Because of all these tries I don’t know if the source of error can be found anymore.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I had this as well on my TS-451+ after the Feb 4th update of the PMS (1.18.6.2368)

To fix it I stopped the service. Installed an older version (I had a copy 1.18.1 locally). And then started PMS again. Then I could log into the admin interface (x.x.x.x:32400) and register it again. After that it worked again. No loss of data.

Well, I tried with 1.18.2, no luck. I had also an older version, 1.13.9. I tried it and yes, it found my server… But the database was gone.

I made a back-up, I copy-paste everything… Ok I recovered all.

Thanks !
