HI,
I recently bought a new Samsung smart TV (Model QE55Q65RATXSQ; Tizen 5.0).
Plex worked fine for a while but after some change (which I’m unable to pinpoint, perhaps it was updating Plex) it stopped working: the TV (client) is unable to connect to the server (Windows PC).
In the “Media Server Status” menu I can see my auto-detected server, but it says it’s unable to connect due to “strict insecure” or “strict secure”… I lowered the settings to be permissive as possible (“allow fallback to insecure”) and it still wouldn’t work, so I don’t think this error is unrelated.
I tried adding the server manually (with my PC’s IP address, on port 32400) but it’s unable to connect this way as well.
One thing I did notice: If I change the server name, the TV does see the update (and the updated name is shown above of the connection error message). So I guess some communication is made successfully but it’s lost. I also tried sniffing w/ Wireshark but I’m not totally sure what to look for.
I tried reinstalling Plex on the PC, also reinstalled an older version, but no luck. I also tried hard resetting the TV (pulled out the power, waited a min or two, put it back) but that didn’t help either.
Will appreciate any help!
Thanks.
