Plex on SONY A9F does not recognize Plex on DSM (Synology)

Hello, I have a problem connecting Plex on my SmartTV to the Plex on the server DS918+ . All software is up to date.

Server Version#: Plex Media Server v1.20.0.3181-0800642ec - Synology DS918+ x86_64 - build: linux-x86_64 synology - GMT 02:00
Player Version#: the latest one on the TV installed few days ago (version number can not be found)

Problem: Day 1 - TV recognized the Synology server (DS918+, DSM updated), showed Photos and videos from it. Day 2 - “Server can not be found”, but Plex shows its online content.

Setup: TV and Server are cable connected via a switch, and are in one network.

Question: I tried multiple workarounds, some found here and some elsewhere o

n the web. None of them worked for me. Can you please let me know if I can hire professional assistance from your side or third party who can set up my Plex to show my content from my Synology server. on my TV?

Thanks in advance and best regards!

First of all, make sure the NAS and the TV both have static IP addresses or if your router supports DHCP Reservation, then make sure they both have the correct IP Address assigned to them.

Open Plex Settings > Server > Network and disable Enable Relay , click on Save Changes.

While there, add your network to the: List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth

If your subnet is 192.168.0.x then add the following, including the netmask:
192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0

Substitute your actual subnet for that shown in the example above. Click on Save Changes when done.

Also make sure that Preferred network interface is correctly set to your network interface/NAS IP Address. Again, click on Save Changes.

After you have made the changes above, reboot the modem/router and everything connected to them. You will need to re-sign in on all of your Plex apps etc. and claim the server if needed.

I would also recommend you to go to Plex Downloads and then manually install the latest version of Plex.

If you have any questions, Google them. A few minutes spent reading is never wasted and you can often learn something in the process.

There is nothing difficult about any of this, it is simply unfamiliar and the only way to rectify that is to jump in and do it.

If you’ve done it once, then the next time is easier, and the next time after that …, etc…

If you still have issues afterwards, then Please grab your Plex Logs and provide them here.

Open File Station on the NAS and navigate to:
Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server and right click on the Logs folder and select Compress to Logs.zip . Attach the .zip file to your post, thanks.

Thanks for your previous navigation, but I could not make it. Here is the attached log.
Thanks and best regardsLogs.zip|attachment (1.4 MB)

Logs.zip (1.4 MB)

Thanks!

This is not the problem. I was experimenting only, but reverted it to to your suggestion - 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0. Does not work either :frowning:

I tried to specify a range by using 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
I also tried with the TV IP address – see the logs (ends …1.115)

Let me know if I misunderstand something.
Thanks

This is what I am using: 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0, I guess it is the same, right, or do you see it differently. Can you help me with this? If not – product is useless. Thanks.

OK it works now, guess couple of resets were needed.
Thanks and best
