i’ve changed internet service provider and gone from a cable/router config to a phone line/modem config.
I have plex installed on my synology ds 415+ and when i run it i don’t see my server, but i do see my friends remote server.
I have port forwarded all the required ports (i think)
i don’t see the server option in settings and when i list the devices there are no servers.
ok i think i know what happened. I changed the NAS to port 1 of the modem as it was on port 2. I’ve now changed it to port 1 of the NAS. Obviously it got assigned a new ip address so I’ve remapped all thenevessary ports again on my modem(File removed)
wow I think I’ve got it, but i wasn’t offered the option this time to claim my server.
On the synology NAS i needs to specify the DNS as being 8.8.8.8.
it was saying that my remote connection was not available otherwise.
then i signed into flex and that also said remote connection was not available unless i specifically used port 32400.
then it all seemed to come together - is it an issue that I didn’t need to claim the server?
ok done that, but i had signed onto plex.Tv and it saw my server and my data before i did that.
I have remote access, but I stil haven’t claimed my server - could it have done it automatically? if not where do I claim it?
i can now also share my server with friends
