I recently moved to a new area with a new ISP andresulting new IP address. After re-setting up my Synology NAS (920+) and turning it back online, I am unable to claim the Plex Media Server on my NAS to my account (after spinning for a minute or so, still asks to claim server). I think the issue may have to be resetting or deleting the old port used for plex and trying to use my new one. I tried editing the Preferences.xml file but no luck. I am able to connect to my NAS via my Windows computer using an existing network connection.
I have attached my recent logs. Any advice would be appreciated
ChuckPA - That was a particularly unhelpful response.
“Lookup plex.tv” - WHERE? There are a gazillion plex.tv locations out there. but …
“Control Panel” → “Network” has the expected (correct) gateway, but still no luck “claiming.” However, while everything looks correct (per your comments) on the Synology, there’s no way (from what I can find) to verify/crosscheck from within Plex itself. So, …
I, too, lost connection to my Plex media when I changed ISP’s. Removed Plex completely from NAS (Synology) and reinstalled - now it’s worse. I can’t claim any servername. Checked date/time stamp, unable to “tunnel” into SSH (no idea how to get the “private key” to create tunnel, tweaked ethernet board (DNS Server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
Of course, now I’ve got a server and Windows platform with so many patches I’m not sure how to correct or proceed and I’m going through MAJOR Plex Withdraw!
I see you have the server on DSM 7.0.1, DS218+,
Last seen by Plex.tv (polled) about an hour ago as I write this
It shows you created this server about an hour ago.
This is the only server listed on your account.
To make certain your devices see it… Make them refresh (control -F5)
or restart the apps. (restart gets a fresh server list from plex.tv)
