PLEX on TV Samsung QE55Q70A doesn't switch audio tracks in a movie

Same issue on QE65QN85. Cannot change audio track that stick on the first track. This make the app barely not unusable.

QE85Q80AATXXH - same issues.

Freshly bought Samsung QE55QN85AAUXRU - the same story. Do we really need to send the logs with so many complains? :slight_smile:

Client version: 5.29.1
Platform version: 6
Server version: 1.25.2.5319 (windows)

UPD: this is when direct play was enabled and the file played was in mkv container.

Hi I have the same trouble with my samsung QN95AA 55 of 2021. And no problem with my other samsung tv Q9 series of 2018.

Is there a way to fix this ?

Always the same problem please fix it

I have just experience the same issue but with version 5.29.1
The audio language was suppose to be danish, and not subtitles.
But in reallity it playes english , with danish subtitles

If I remove the “allow direct play” the PMS will do a transcode, but use direst stream, and for some reason this solves the problem

I have the same problem on a QN95A. After inquiring, there is no uncompromising bug fix.

I tried disabling direct reading. indeed it works but the quality is no longer the same and cutting corners on the quality when you know the screen…

I have another solution, and that’s what I’m doing. Use MKVToolNix Gui v64. It will allow you to remake the .MKV file with the audio/subtitle track you want. tutorial (in french) here: Présentation du logiciel MKVToolNix GUI - YouTube

MKVToolNix is a good tool for this, but a lot of work to go through all my files to change the default audio track. Since this works on other TV-models by Samsung, I’m sure the developers at Plex can address this issue and fix it. Any admins here who can confirm this is a issue, and maybe there is a upcoming fix for this?

Hi! The same problem on QN90A with latest app and server versions. Currently I have to rebuild every video file to switch audio tracks and it’s a bit uncomfortable. Sometimes audio switch is work fine, but quite rarely.

Same problem here! Samsung QE55Q60AAU with latest software!
Plex client version is 5.29.1 Platform Version 6

I had tried it with a ton of movies, and i dont get what the problem could be! It plays AAC Stereo fine on the TV natively but in the App it just does not switch to that audio track. It just jumps back to one playable. If the movie only has the foreign track then i get unexpected playback error!
Same files work flawlesly on older (2020) samsung TV and on iOS Windows and Mac!

I hope you can fix the bug, because this is getting annoying

Problem existing since minimum the beggining of 2021.

I have the same problem :

  • On my Samsung Q60 2019 TV → No problem
  • On my Samsung Q80 2021 TV → Problem

The two TV have the exact same OS version and exact same Plex application version.

This problem is already explained in many tread and even on the Samsung forum. Here some example and it took me only 1 minute to find them…

It’s time to find a way to resolve this WITHOUT :

  • Disabling direct play
  • Reencode all our moovies
  • Replace our TV
  • Buy another external device on which install plex

@elan @anon18523487 @kinoCharlino there is no answers from @sLumpy for a long time. Please look at this bug - problem with ton of new Samsung TV so a lot of users can’t use Plex properly.

There will be a fix in the next release. Unfortunately, we have to fall back to direct streaming the audio when you choose a different audio track. There’s some sort of bug in Samsung’s video player that won’t let us change audio track (well, technically it lets us change it, but it never actually selects it so it keeps playing the same track). I’ve reached out to Samsung so hopefully it’s something they can easily fix on their end.
