Plex Pass Dashboard features missing when accessing Plex via localhost url instead of app.plex.tv url

Plex Version: 1.15.4.919
OS Version: Windows 10 Pro Version 1803 Build 17134.471

I have a Plex pass and thus have access to all of the beautiful graphs on the dashboard (Bandwidth, CPU, Memory). I can also see what IP address the stream is coming from in the advanced view of the now playing section. I love this level of detail and stats!

When launching plex by double clicking on the plex icon in the task tray, Plex is launched with a local host URL ie: http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html. Upon accessing the dashboard via the activity icon in the top right of the Plex interface, I do not see the CPU or Memory graph or IP address the stream is coming from. If I then navigate to the Account section on the left (http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#!/settings/account) and click the link Other Services, I am taken to https://plex.tv/users/other-services. I then click on Account and am taken back to what appears to be the Account screen again. this time with a different URL https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/account. Now if I access the dashboard via the activity icon in the top right of the Plex interface, I do see the CPU and Memory graph and IP address the stream is coming from.

Shouldn’t I be able to just double click on the Plex icon in the task tray and access all of the great features that come along with my Plex Pass?

I have also noticed that some settings are saved independently depending on whether Plex is accessed via the localhost URL or via app.plex.tv URL. Debug settings as well as the Automatically adjust quality (Beta) settings are a few examples. One must turn off the settings using both URLS as changing them in one does not affect the other.Plex Media Server Logs_2019-04-16_21-43-31.zip (2.4 MB)

Yes the localhost web app can be several “releases” behind the hosted version. Eventually, it will be caught up to include these new features (but will generally lag behind the newest release on the hosted site/url)

Wow! Super quick response! Did not know that. Thanks for the info!

One thing I did notice is that the Version displayed under Settings >> General is the same no matter if accessed via localhost URL or app.plex.tv URL. If the releases are different shouldn’t the version reflect this?

This is where the web client version is found:
https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/web/general
and
http://localhost:32400/web/index.html#!/settings/web/general

Hats off to you sir/mam. You are a plethora of useful information! Many thanks again!

I am having the same issue with the web client. However, I downloaded windows player and I am having the same problem on the app. did I download the wrong one? My server is a BSD server. Not sure if that is important.

Make sure you’re using this link:
https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/web/general
