not ideal, but if you don’t have many users, just create a new account and change your server to that account.

I would create a new account had my subscription not just renewed. Truth be told, the random cheap lifetime subscription emails to once-in-a-while users, and existing yearly users being left out of deals like this is starting to leave a bitter taste in my mouth (and I’m sure a few other people’s too) and I’ll not be re-upping next year.

Cancelled my subscription. I’m done with this nonsense.

I have three accounts one has Plex Pass and the other two do not. I use the two extra accounts for testing at times and for avoiding some things affecting viewed status for my primary account. I do not use “home” features for that as I want Plex to work for me without internet when my internet goes down.

Both of my extra accounts received the “invite” to purchase a lifetime sub at a reduced rate. Of course I have little interest at purchasing another Plex Pass regardless of the rate.

I guess Plex has no way of determining if a given user has other accounts under different emails BUT I would think that Plex would be well served to somehow provide an account field that shows other emails used by the same user and then would not send these kind of emails to users that already had a Plex Pass.

But, since it is email, there is no real expense in sending them out so I guess the advantage by not sending to existing users is minimal.

I do wonder how many “lifetime Plex Passes” are generated by the emails of this sort. It might be a lot or it might be just a few. My guess is closer to the few.

But then you lose out on the prorated discount based on yearly pass, I pay for a yearly pass and if I switch accounts I basically lost 1/2 the price of that. Also I share with 20ish users

Thanks for nothing Plex. Obviously your current monthly/yearly subscribers mean very little to you.

I’m a loyal subscriber who has been eyeing the lifetime pass for a long time. This feels like a slap in the face.

I cancelled my Plex pass today. This is the sort of behavior I expect our of cable companies. I will probably join again if they change their minds on this one.

Been subscribed monthly for 5 years looking at it (November 2013) and would have also liked to take the plunge with a nice discount like this.

I posted a same sorta topic didn’t see this one posted. I agree 100% with all comments. It’s kinda a kick in the nuts this coupon for Loyal new customers who deserve a discount as a way to thank them. Need some competitive apps that offer similar things so I can dump Plex as a thank you for being a loyal merchant.

I agree. I was very excited in the hopes that I could finally upgrade to a lifetime pass with this discount but was really angry that it excluded existing subscribers. I certainly understand why people are cancelling. I have to give it some thought myself. Maybe it is time to move on from Plex.
