Uninterested in keeping customers satisfied

So I’ve been a plex user since 2009, which is about 10 years. I’ve been a Plex Pass subscriber for the last 6 years. Recently a round of promotional offers have come up giving new users 25% off their lifetime Plex Pass purchase. I’ve been paying monthly throughout my subscription which equates to roughly $280 to date. That’s fine, I don’t mind a monthly payment to a service vs a one time. What bothers me is that I’ve never been offered a discount on purchasing a lifetime subscription. This recent round of discounts got my curiosity up so I queried customer support to see if they could extend the discount or something like it to me.

Their response:

"Our apologies, but this promotion is currently only available to new Plex Pass subscribers. It cannot be used to upgrade an existing subscription at this time.

It’s certainly possible that we could have an offer available to existing subscribers in the future, but we have no specifics to share right now."

My response:

"I have never received a promotional offer for a lifetime pass and it appears that I never will. Thank you for proving how little Plex cares about its long serving customers. I will be canceling my subscription in the new year.

I have been a Plex user for 10 years. Plex Pass for 6 years."

Their response:

“I’m sorry to hear you’ll be canceling your subscription. We care about both our new and existing subscribers, and aim to do everything we can to keep our customers.”

I don’t expect this post to stay online very long before moderators remove it.

Why would “they” remove it? They have allowed many more irrational and impolite posts than yours.

I actually believe that their policies are quite reasonable. Plex should not make exceptions for individuals based on how noisy they are. The only proper requirement is that the policies/rules be applied consistently just like referees in almost all sports. The exact calls matter very little as long as they are consistently called the same for everybody.

If you currently have a Plex Pass you are not eligible for the special pricing and if you do not have one you are.

Of course you can always cancel your current Plex Pass account and open a new one with a different email address and thereby get the special pricing.

just another of hundreds or more posts about this.

it is obvious that plex is using this marketing tactic to keep the new user accounts metric increasing.

as Elijah so eloquently put, cancel and wait indefinitely for you to get a plex pass discount email, or create a new account, or just be an adult and buck up.

right or wrong is irrelevant, but if 30 bux makes the difference to you between lifetime, subscription, or non-plexpass status, then that is on you.

you can make that up by avoiding eating lunch out for 3 days.
