Plex Pass Issue

I have been a Plex user for a few years and never had an issue.

When Plex announced that they were charging for Plex Pass, I did not have a major issue and indeed applied for the Plex Pass.

I completed the application but immediately noted that whilst downloaded videos on my external hard drive would load up and play on my Plex TV application, my photos and Home Videos and Music Files would not load up from my External Hard drive.

I therefore had to cancel the Plex Pass which was still on 7 day free trial.

It’s not a major issue as I can play ALL the files, videos, Photos, Music files on my PC with no problem -so I am not missing out.

I just wondered if anyone else was having similar issues ?

You don’t need a Plex Pass to run your Plex Media Server – it’s just one of the options / dependencies to stream media while outside your home network.

What particular app did you install on your TV that wasn’t able to see those libraries?
The “new experience” Plex apps used to drop music and photo libraries for their dedicated apps (Plexamp for music/audio, Plex Photo for photos). Though, they have since reverted that and those library types should be available on Roku boxes / TVs.
If you’re on an Amazon Fire TV 4K Stick with their “Vega OS” platform, that can provide some similar limitations:

Xumo X1 smart tvs only allow apps of streaming providers, but not to access self-hosted content. As such, Plex is only allowed to offer an app giving access to their online media source (video on demand, live-tv streaming) – but not to any of your personal libraries.

Thanks - I installed Plex App on my Roku and looking back, it seems it was the Remote Watch Pass, I had applied for.

I had forgotten that I did ask this same question a while back but the guidance I was given unfortunately didn’t resolve the situation.

On my PC Desktop app, I started getting a message saying that My Credentials have expired (whatever that means) but I just click out of that and the App seems to be OK.

As it stands, when I try to watch something on the TV, I get a message stating 'The show can’t go on yet ’ along with payment option for Remote Watch Pass. My TV is connected to my Home Net6work (not remotely)…

You might want to check this guide on what could cause Plex to consider your server to be remote when it’s not.

Thanks, I did just check the settings on my Desktop app and noted that Remote Server was ticked, so I unticked it. I then went back on my Roku Plex App and found that it will play downloaded videos however, all other files, photos etc come back with an error message ‘Playback error’…..
