Is there a waiting list the I need to be added to in order to receive one of the $74.99 Lifetime Plex Pass promotion emails? I keep checking my spam, but still nothing. I’ve been using the free version for years now. I’m not ready to pull the trigger at $119, but wouldn’t hesitate to upgrade for $75.
there is no waiting list

Ok, so how can I get sent a promotion email? I keep reading online that people have been getting them.
they are sent out randomly to random users.
I’ve been waiting patiently for a couple years now Sure hope they get around to me soon.
I got one on Friday.
“they are sent out randomly to random users.”
So passive aggressive. Incredible. A user is straight asking to give you money at a price you’re entirely happy to charge oppose to the no money they currently pay and this is the best response you can muster. You can barely even acknowledge their request with showing some sort of contempt.
What the hell is going on at Plex? Is there any direction or does the work list just get pulled out of a lottery machine?
That isn’t passive aggressive. It’s just a fact and they don’t owe anyone a discount. The user can wait until they are randomly selected if they want to and that is their decision.

Sure, and no one owes them a subscription, or indeed any money to even use the thing. Sure makes sense to capitalise on people offering to pay an amount you’re happy to accept though doesn’t it.
Common sense i believe it’s known as. Lets just hope the user doesn’t find some other product in the meantime, they were after all ready to pull the trigger

One thing: Plex can, at any time, choose to no longer support the free use of their product. It would cost them some users that are currently paying by month or year but, because, the lifetime members (like me) have already coughed up the money, they would not see any real losses there.
The only real alternative to Plex for most users is Emby and Plex, being the more mature product, is generally easier for most non-technical people to use and that means that Plex is sitting as a virtual monopoly and can do as they please and charge or not as they choose.
Also because $4.99 is so small a charge they do not even need to hassle with giving a free trial.
I have my issues with Plex and I “can” use Emby but I cannot cost Plex any money and I doubt Plex sees anything posten on these boards as threatening their existence or bottom line. In a lot of ways they are the only game in town so if anyone wants to play it is Plex or nothing.
BTW: Before anyone brings up Kodi I would like to say that Kodi is not a competitor with Plex and, in most cases, cannot replace Plex’s functionality for the user.
I too would love win the coupon code lottery for the lifetime $75 offer. I just started using Plex last year and really love a lot of its features. In fact the free version seems to do all I need. Still, I want to show my support but can’t afford the 120 ask .

Except for that providing the additional features that come with a Plex Pass DOES cost Plex on an ongoing basis (enhanced metadata content is not free to Plex). So to get pissed at Plex for not just accepting any amount of money for the features that cost Plex is absurd.
I wish I could go to a store and expect them to accept any price I want to pay them just because they sold that item to someone else in the past. But alas, that is not how it works in my part of the world.
Been waiting for years, plex still doesn’t want my money. Sorry but I am not paying $120 when others are paying $75. So dumb. Only thing I can think of is I got the offer long ago and missed it and thus won’t get another.

AOL had a virtual monopoly of internet traffic at one time. Pretty sure Plex is trying to copy that business model. So many great, open source, alternatives are maturing. Id like to have a life time plex pass, just not paying full price.
I actually have a lifetime Plex pass subscription but don’t really see the benefits of it at all, being able to beta test software is just about the only thing. Outside the US for sure.

I only use the managed account(PlexHome) thing myself…
If anyone gets a code I would happy use it if they dont want it, send me a pm if you are happy to share a code.
I was a Plex user for a year and wanted to upgrade to the lifetime, but they did not give me any discount. I guess their business model is to ignore paid customers and offer deals to non paid ones for 74.99. Anyway switched to Emby and have been using it for 6 months. Love the interface - much nicer UI. Also I can click on any actor and get info on that actor and it shows me all movies I have on that actor, very nice navigation and flow. Sorting capabilities are easier. I was also able to customize my server and domain and get my family to go to my URL to sign in. Now am considering their lifetime license. I watch it on my Roku and Amazon Alexa.
