Plex pass owner can't download

I can’t download load anything on my phone app. I have plex pass and am the owner. I have a SM-A156U phone. Can anyone help please.

Let’s start with some basics…

  • What version of PMS do you have installed and on what platform?
  • Are you trying to download media from one of your own libraries, a shared library or some media from Plex‘s online media sources?
  • Where exactly are you getting stuck, e.g. not download button / context menu at all, controls are there but nothing happens, any error messages when downloading?

I have no down load button on any selection and I have no idea what PMS I have downloaded. How can I find out. I don’t have anything in library. And I’m really new to the app.

It’s my own library not shared I am the owner of the pass subscription

The easiest way to tell is usually to open Settings > [Server Name] > General and to check the server version listed there.

You can only download media from your own libraries to the Plex player apps on a mobile (Android, iOS) or the regular Plex desktop app. If you’ve got nothing in your library, Plex won’t give you access to media to download from some other places (and you cannot download media from their video-on-demand service).

Ok so how do I put stuff in my libraries?

When creating a library, you point it to one or more directories on your system which contain your media. Plex will then scan and catalog your media files.

Are we sure we’re talking about personal media or on demand content? As highlighted above by @tom80H you can’t put any of the Plex streaming media in your library or download it for offline playback.
