I don’t often play Live TV on my Windows 10 computer that I have Plex Server running on. But lately, it stops with the message “Plex Playback Error: This Live TV session has ended” after a minute or two of it just spinning. Occasionally, it may start. But normally, it just spins and errors out. Any ideas what’s happening to cause this?

Ran plex server on 2 seperate pcs. I think its my hd home run box. But the router it is plugged into has no intrenet. Im stuck a motel fot a bit. My HDHomerun app opens on the recorings screen.

Hoping to find a solution as well. I’ve been watching Live TV from a Windows 10 PC and while it used to end with an error message like this after a couple hours starting today it’s happening after a few minuets of watching. I run Plex Media Server on a dedicated Ubuntu PC and upgraded yesterday to version 4.63.0. I also have an HDHomeRun box that I recently upgraded to firmware version 20210624.
Has anyone played with different browsers to see if that helps? I’m typically on a flavor of Chrome, either Chrome itself or the Brave browser.
Hi… I just upgraded my routers firmware… Seems to work. Looks like it worked. 15 minutes in, all good.

I tried it again this morning. It spun for a little and then worked. It may be an intermittent problem.

I seem to be having a similar issue which has cropped up in the last couple weeks:
that is [Plex Playback Error: This Live TV session has ended] message.
Never experienced it prior. I tried refreshing the guide, to no avail. Tried many other things I thought might help, but still the same.

Added later: Still testing, but I have noticed that if the buffer is used by backing up a minute or so, that the play can be extended without the stop error occurring.

I’m getting this error too. Haven’t tried tv in a year and now I’m trying to watch a freaking football game and my session ends every 5 minutes or so and I have to hit play again. Never had any problems before watching TV for hours. I’m disappointed.

yes on my windows 11 only on the server every few minutes i get a Playback Error and a this live tv session has ended. Only on the server and only live tv.
I had it running perfectly on the same pc with windows 10.

Same issue. I watch live TV daily and will occasionally get “This Live TV Session Has Ended” message after a couple hours, but in the last couple weeks I get the message after a minute or 2. I tried updating my tuner firmware. This improved but did not fix the problem (now get the error after 5-10 minutes).
I’m getting the same problem. I am running Windows 10 on my Plex Server. For a while it would only do it every handful of hours. Today I’m trying to watch TV and it does it every 5 minutes or so. Hopefully Plex can help us get a solution?

Same here. Trying to watch football. Select a channel from the plex guide, start watching and 5 minutes the playback ends. Can restart it and watch for 5 more minutes. Updated to current version of media server a week ago. HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO , Windows 10, i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz. Gigabit router. Was working for over a year on this PC. Clients = PC i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz and multiple 4K Rokus.

Based on my experience with Plex for the past 3 years, I’m sure they’ll have this fixed up in 2 or 3 months. Of course, 2 or 3 other things are going to break in that time.

I am having the same issue with the player erroring out every 5 minutes or so. I am recording the World Series and start to watch the stream live and it will die about every 5 minutes.
Setup:
Player: Windows 10
Plex Player Version 4.68
Chrome Version 95.0.4638.69
Player debug log is attached.
Set to max resolution
Server: Windows 10
Plex Server Version 1.24.5.5173
Tuner is a HDHomeRun Prime with latest firmware.

Interesting observation: The stream for the Chrome browser no longer shows up in the Plex Dashboard. At All. Either the Windows Dashboard of the Android Dashboard.
This has been happening steadily since the last server update.
I’m seeing the same thing. In my logs, right when it fails, I get “[Live/b33ec7e5-8ea8-4aca-a3e5-72d063baf347] Failed to find consumer”
Also experiencing this random “This live TV session has ended” while watching on web player, server Version 1.24.5.5173.
It used to happen a lot over the last year or so, then it went away and worked, but it appears to be very frequent after updating to this server version.
I record a show daily, but tend to watch it live anyways. Not sure if that is playing a factor? Does anyone else watch live as they are also recording?
Live TV & DVR is broken in multiple ways on multiple clients. Web app, Roku, Android… this feature is borderline unusable causing PMS to crash randomly among many other things.
Plex for Windows app is working.
I also started experiencing this issue, but only when I am viewing a live TV channel through the built-in web server while in windows. My Roku setup seems to be completely unaffected by this and I can watch live tv from the roku app for hours.
UPDATE: I rolled back to version 1.24.4.5081 and the problem is gone.
