Worked fine on previous version, broken on latest update (1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59). The disconnect only happens when watching through the built-in web server on port 32400. No issues from the exact same computer and browser through the plex.tv web app.
Edited to update: Rolled back to 1.24.4.5081-e362dc1ee and I am no longer having this issue. I did some log digging and found that it is directly related to a beta issue shown here: Livetv-Streaming is crashing very often (about 3min)
Been having this error for over a month. Only occurs when watching live tv through a web browser. Works fine through Apps running on Android, Samsung TV. On mine it is exactly every 4 minutes the error crops up. And this occurs on all computers that I use a web browser running Live TV including Win 10 and Mac OS. So pretty sure its a Plex software issue. Running most current Plex Server and have an HD Home Run Extend that is also fully updated with latest firmware. Have tried a few suggested fixes as to adjusting buffer time and so forth, but no dice. Have not rolled back server version as of yet.
Same thing, playing from a browser the live TV session crashes after 4 minutes. Plays fine from all other devices I have - Shield, Roku, Fire Stick, Fire Tablet, Android phone.
How do you roll back to the previous version? I’ve never had this “This Live TV session has ended” ever! I updated to the latest version of plex during halftime of a college game yesterday and after updating I get this “This Live TV session has ended” every 3-4 minutes! I wish I had never updated!
Stop plex in tray icon
uninstall through add/remove programs
go to plex data folder in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server
look at updates folder, sort by modified date and go into the previous version folder. go into packages folder. Install that version
reboot
Fixed, No longer getting “This Live TV session has ended”
Now I will be a lot more hesitant on clicking that update button, never had an issue before.
edit ~Sorry I missed the step of uninstalling first. Honestly I’m nervous about doing so. Will I lose any of my settings or viewed/unviewed data if I uninstall?
Tried a rollback of server versions and got this error.
I’m also having playback issues like the rest of you. Used to work well on Firefox via web app. Then I downloaded the Windows Player App and it worked fine.
Now it’s not working in the app at all (instant failure) but plays for about 3 mins in the web app and fails.
I’m having this issue as well, though I haven’t yet figured out where it says what version of Plex Media Server I’m running (Linux/Ubuntu server, web-client). Sometimes it quits after a couple minutes, other times it may go for an hour (give/take, seems random time) and then quit.
I’m using a HD HomeRun Connect Duo HDHR5-2US Firmware 20210624 with OTA TV, while I sometimes have signal issues it doesn’t just die like this on the “real” HDHR app or streaming direct to VLC.
Both the Plex server and HDHR are connected to network switches with a gigabit wired connection and I don’t seem to have any packet loss that I can find.
Brand new Plex install here - no issues streaming to AppleTV this week, but hitting this error when streaming to chrome, using either plex.tv or direct access.

Rolled back to 1.24.4.5081-e362dc1ee as mentioned here, and the issue went away.
There was a Plex Web release that came out yesterday 4.70.0 that resolves a recent issue with Live TV playback. The update was to the hosted Plex Web app and would in the future get into the Plex Media Server bundled Plex Web app.
Please check to see if the problem is resolved for you when using the hosted Plex Web app through https://app.plex.tv/desktop
app.plex.tv is still EXTREMELY unsatisfactory for live tv playback. If you press the the “Back 10 seconds” button or interact with the position bar in any way, playback goes back to the beginning of the live session and there is no way to go forward other than to watch from the beginning again. If you press back 10 seconds again, then back to the beginning you go.
Is this the quality of “fixes” that we can expect to continue in the future from the development team?
Windows 10 server. Firefox browser on the same machine.
I’m stuck at PMS version 1.24.4.5081 to avoid the constant Web Players playback errors every 3 minutes or so. I’ve been on Web Player 4.70.0 for a while. Doesn’t make a bit of difference.
