now release Apple Silicon support, it’s nearly 3 years since the release of the first M1 product
Didn’t someone say that Plex is built with all sorts of components they don’t control so they have to wait for those components to support Apple Silicon, first? This may not quite be up to them.
While that is true, there are many components. But by the end of the day, Plex is the decision-maker. They could have created a new player or expanded their Mobile Apps that are already available for iPad and iPhone and are usable on Apple Silicon Mac. They work fine but needs polishing to be used on macOS.
A third-party player “Infuse” is updated for Apple Silicon and works well but it’s not free. But anyway, Plex decided to keep updating the current player and wait for other components to update but last I check, somewhere on this thread. QT is updated and can be used on ARM. Seems to be a licensing issue? it’s been a while since I’ve read about it.
Anywho, just my two cents!
People keep trying to drive this thread off-topic so I’m closing it.
