This issue has been happening for years. This PMS install was originally on FreeNAS, which has been upgraded to TrueNAS 12.0-U8.1. Certain shows and movies will not allow me to set them to record. It doesn’t matter if it is on Roku, Plex app on Android phone or the Windows 10 app, none of these will honor me setting something to record. It will let me select record, but not show the red dot on the image or show it in the schedule. Other content works fine to record. It doesn’t appear to be tied to a certain channel, as the most recent occurrence is on a channel that I have been able to record off of previously.
I have another PMS setup on a Windows 10 machine (server version 1.30.0.6486) that will let me record those movies and shows without issue. It shares the HDHomeRun Flex 4k tuner with the above PMS and has a WinTV-quadHD internal tuner. The specific channel that I experienced this issue on today is available on all tuner instances for these two PMS.
Any ideas of what is randomly blocking me from recording movies and shows on this server?
Start with creating a new EPG db by doing the following:
Stop Plex.
Delete the 3 files in your db directory /usr/local/plexdata-plexpass/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Databases/tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud-b9b054e2-ed4a-4a05-b3e4-4235d68f34fe.*
Start Plex
Refresh Guide
Delete any scheduled recordings that are giving you a problem and re-add them.

Current movie recording issues:
-Home Alone (9.1 KMBCDT - ABC)
-Short Circuit 2 (38.1 KMCIDT)
-The Lion King (9.1 KMBCDT - ABC)
Just for a test, I tried to record another movie (12 Dogs of Christmas: Great Puppy Rescue) on 38.1 KMCIDT and it allowed me to set it to record. It doesn’t typically appear to be specific to the channel, it comes across as pretty random as to whether it will allow us to record or not.
So, if I have an item in my library already, I cannot record another copy of it?
I have a ‘dummy’ video I created from PowerPoint that shows how I can watch movies I own. It’s a simple mp4 video file that will show DVD/Blu-ray/Movies Anywhere/Vudu… so that I can see all of my content in Plex and then navigate appropriately to watch.
I do have a dummy video setup for the other two movies that would not record.
Well, if I delete that dummy video for the Lion King, clean bundles and optimize database (not sure how necessary those last 2 steps are), then I can set the Lion King to record. So, Plex apparently will not let you record something that you already have.
Plex- Is this working as intended? If I have a version of a movie (even just a dummy video file), then I cannot set that same movie to be recorded? That seems pretty goofy.
