Plex refuses to add file with weird boost::filesystem::file_size error

Server Version#: 1.41.7.9823-59f304c16

Hi, I have tried everything including moving, renaming, watching, checking permissions, testing the files with e.g. file, stat, “filebot -mediainfo”, and everything look fine except that Plex refuses to add them. It’s like it can’t open them. Any idea ?

Check the permissions IN each directory (to read the files)

Linux allows you to see the names (because it can read the parent directory) but it must also have permissions for the file in order to operate on it.

This is why we often set permissions this way:

# change the default permissions to owner='rwx', everyone else to 'r-x'
# 'x' means to traverse the directory to subdirectories & files
[root@lizum chuck]# find /disks/media3 -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;

# change the default permissions to owner= 'rw-', everyone else 'r-only'
[root@lizum chuck]# find /disks/media3 -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;
