Plex remote access suddenly not working

I’ve been using my Plex for months and it’s always worked fine- but now the remote access keeps disabling and I can’t stream on my Samsung smart TV downstairs. Plex will stream on my phone, or the computer just fine- just not my smart TV through the Plex app.

same here, i have done everything i can think of. i use vpn bypass tools I am assuming perhaps there were some ip or domain changes? if so is there a list of new ones we need to include in the filters?

Question: if we’re streaming locally only do we need to set up a static IP address? Or forward port? I messed around with my router settings yesterday but ended up just disabling remote access and after that I could stream to my laptop, and with a restart of my tv now it’s streaming again downstairs.

If you have upnp enabled on your router, you don’t even need to touch it. Plex will setup the remote access automatically. Creating manual port forwarding is just useful in specific cases like personal preference for a specific port.

To stream locally only, disable remote access and that’s all. Although your server won’t be accessible through the internet, Plex will still need access to the internet to do all its things.

Are your tv and your server in different networks? When you play movies on the tv, do you see the stream as local on your Plex dashboard?

Well, I’m having the same JUST HAPPENED today. Been working fine for months and months, after I set up a manual port. Then Today my remote server will NOT hold. Stays green for like 5 seconds then goes red. Had done NOTHING new, it just stopped. I’ve checked everything including toggling the Router, setting as suggested, but still no dice. Any more ideas? Is PLEX having issues today, on Christmas ?

Exactly the same problem. I setup a separate thread for this showing all the things I have tried. I am out of ideas.

No. It will work fine for days/weeks, then the is a net update and remote access becomes erratic again. Some times if I run the repair & reboot it will work ok for a while longer. Then tonight it won’t hold even after 2 repairs. I’m at a loss why it keeps dropping out.
