Plex requiring internet for LAN streaming

Server Version#: Latest

Normally I have a 20Mbps LTE internet but it is limited to 0.5Mbps when it is throttled. In such a case I was limited for a few days, during which I found out I can`t stream to my tablet from my home server on the same LAN. When it was resolved I was able to stream again. I understand this service does not require an internet connection to stream, but whenever I have issues with my ISP the server also starts giving problems.

How can I fix this in the future?

The solution does not work, I switched my internet off to test it and it stopped working shortly after.

I added the IP address of my tablet and router seperated by a comma and it sortive works, but no difference. On the Glasswire App it shows data being uploaded to the WAN instead on LAN. The quality of the video is also still bad.

Also I cant access my libraries from the tablet after making the changes. It shows it is empty when it is not

You probably need to tell your tablet what the IP of your PMS is, as the tablet contacts the Plex servers to get this information.

How do I do that? Does it make a difference what kind of account I have?

I checked now again, I think it is my tablet that is the issue, server works fine without internet, but my tablet says make sure to have an internet connection to the server when the internet is turned completely off

In you Plex player go to Settings -> Advanced -> Manual Connections

Thank you, Do I put in the IPv4 adress of my server PC as is? It does not let me add the fullstops. Or what port adress should I need to enter

It should let you just put the IPv4 address in (e.g. 192.168.1.10). Port is 32400 assuming you haven’t remapped from the default port.
