Yes i’ve manually added the port and it says it’s available outside my main network, yet when I try to access it from a different network it never loads.

What app are you using on the remote network. I’m guessing you disabled secure connections on your server, and the player app is set to never allow insecure connections which is it’s default
If you are not home at the moment then change Allow insecure to always in the app. I in general suggest enabling it on your server and setting the player apps to allow insecure connection “on the same network”
On android mobile the setting is in “Settings>Advanced>Allow Insecure Connections”
I’ve tried it on the PC app, android app, and TV app, all on a different network than the server. I’m using team-viewer to change any settings on my main PC hosting the server, but all instances of Plex have insecure connections allowed.
I just realized I misread your comment earlier and only after taking a second look I realized that “Allow fallback onto insecure connections” and “Secure Settings” are two different settings. I did in fact have secure connections disabled, but I followed your instructions and changed it to “Always” and “Required” respectively. However this did not fix the problem and it will still not load.
I’m not sure about the secure settings that were suggested for the server.
Mine are set to “Preferred.” That’s the default setting, and it’s always worked for me. Find those settings on the Plex Web app at:
Settings ->> Network
I’ve also disabled the “IPv6” support. I seem to recall that gave me grief at some point in time. You’ll have to enable the “Advanced Settings” to control that feature.
I would look at one of the player app logs and see what ip it is trying to connect to the server at. It may have the wrong one for some reason.
Disabling IPv6 and setting the server secure connections to preferred is a good idea. I only meant to set the player app to always if you could not change server setting. I never recommend setting the servers secure connection to disabled unless you have a very good understanding of things.
Well I disabled IPv6 and set it to preferred, and it did nothing. Until I just sat there for 10 minutes and it fixed itself (???), now for whatever reason the pc app works, the android app works, but the roku and browser version don’t.
A Server reboot is wise after changing network settings I would imagine - or you have to wait, I’d guess, until Plex figures it out…
Also:
‘Fallback to insecure on local network only’ is a fairly important ‘Client Setting’ - that will allow the use of local traffic if the internet goes out, or Plex.tv goes down, or some other random catastrophe. <— the wrong client setting here will cause all manner of suffering. <— oh, and nothing you do at the server will set that client app setting.
Maybe it just took a while for the server to update to my new settings and that’s why it seemed to “fix itself” earlier. Literally as I posted that though both my PC and android app stopped working even though I didn’t change anything. So i’m back to square one.
