This has been working for several years. I noticed that a new videos was not detected and added in one particular folder. When added, the Activity icon in the top right turned 3 times as though it was detecting it but it did not. I added the same video to another folder and it added the video. Strange. Any ideas.
No this is okay. Permissions are given to the user Plex to read/write the parent folder. One of the children is being read. The other is not. Both have been setup for several years.
Do you know where Plex stores the metadata about the files (tags, sort by, etc)? If I move the entire folder to my Desktop and then move it back under the Plex Library parent, will I lose the metadata?
I’m on DSM 7. I’ve been using this for 2 years with no issues. Users have access to all folders in Plex. Videos from all play. When I add a video to a few other folders, it is scanned and added. When I add the same video to the folder in question, it is not added.
I should add. All videos added prior to today in the folder in question are there and play as expected.
Ok. The video is in a directory named “Other”. I renamed it to “Other 2” and it works. The permissions on both folders are the same. There is only 1 folder called Other inside this particular parent directory.
Now I can see that it’s happening with other random folders as well. In one case there are 7 folders with one video each under a parent. Plex has detected only 4 of the videos. Permissions and file types are the same.
