I just ripped my “Keeping up Appearances” TV show box set, And as always i have main folder with the title of the show, Then each season inside titled S1 S2 etc, And each episode is titled S01E01 and so on.
Anyway i have done exactly the same with all my other TV show boxsets and had no issues with Plex giving them correct cover art and episode names, but this one in particular refuses and keeps scanning as a TV show called “Legion” [Yeah never heard of it either] It even has screen grabs of each episode!
Could be some weird embedded metadata used to match the show/episodes.
Would you mind checking if those files have embedded metadata and share the exact folder organization/file naming (also what exact folder(s) of that directory structure are linked to your library)?
As for naming/organizing your files: don’t abbreviate the season folder but stick to the good old “Season 01”, “Season 02” naming.
I find the most important feature that Plex relies on to match a show correctly, is the base folder that contains the rest. If this is incorrectly named, or includes the wrong date (or no date), Plex can confuse it for another show easily.
Assuming that the show is Keeping Up Appearances - TheTVDB.com, make sure the folder is titled Keeping Up Appearances (1990). If this doesn’t do it (might need to Plex dance the files after renaming it), I’ll need to see the folder names/structures you use, as tom80H said.
If you go to the show in Plex → … menu → Fix Match → Search Options → Agent: TheTVDB → fill in title Keeping Up Appearances, leave year blank → search → you should find the show you want. This doesn’t exactly explain why the sync misfired to begin with, but it should correct things in the mean time.
