I got the same problem with my scrabing service in Chinese Language. After I change to use English to scrab data, it works well. I think it may cause by the language.

Thanks.

This is definitely indicating that there is a network problem. The DNS seems to be resolving what look like the correct IPs but the requests are timing out.

I’m seeing similar results when testing this with https://www.dotcom-tools.com/china-firewall-test

This could be a regional issue with Cloudflare or with the local internet service provider.

Are you seeing the same when running this?

I have the same problem. I can even login plex account. what can I do?

yeah,I think it’s the Great Firewall of China.
I hope to add the http proxy function to the control center, that we can jump the firewall of China

I’m following up with our devops team to see what they can find out.

They’ve asked for additional info including a traceroute and HAR file from a browser.

Running a traceroute: https://www.greengeeks.com/support/article/how-to-run-a-traceroute-on-windows-mac-or-linux/

Getting a HAR capture: What is HAR File And How To Generate HAR File – OurPcGeek

Both these should be made with the same url as previously: metadata.provider.plex.tv

You can send me a private message if you don’t wish to post this information publicly.

Thanks, I finished the traceroute and HAR capture and sent you a dm with the results.

There are also problems with other Plex services. Other than the metadata service, I cannot access https://plex.tv, the discover, watchlist, and “Music on Tidal” page either. Also, my avatar in the Plex app is not displayed properly. I have attached the screenshot below:

I highly suggest that you add proxy settings for plex media server for connection to plex.tv, as not every system support proxy setting, to make sure cencershipped network user has choice to connect to plex.tv through porxy manually.
This will not be the first time China user lost connection to plex.tv. This time you have already lost some user and potential user, to avoid this please consider about adding proxy setting.

During a day, some time periods are normal, while most time periods are not allowed and cannot be matched.

Yes, your guess is right, the problem is caused by the China GFW blocking Cloudflare CDN IPs. There are a lot other websites using Cloudflare CDN that can’t working normal in mainland China. All the same reason.

Hi, bro, look this.
chrome_har_and_traceroute_log.zip (71.6 KB)

The same problem happened to me, and another problems is my LG TV can’t launch the Plex app, the screen prompted network error, I think it’s the same reason between the two problem, any idea for this? THX
