Plex Scrab Service totally out in Mainland China

Plex media server scrab service (use Plex Movie scraber) and online content disfunctional since about UTC 5:00 AM 2024/07/24 in most region of mainland china. The plex.tv cannot be accessed in some region. Changing scraber to TMDB would help sometime, but the scrab speed is extremly slow.

I initially thought this is caused by my network connection, but the scrab service still not work after I tried several times by resetting/modified my network configuration. I installed my plex server on Synology NAS so it’s not possible to directly change plex proxy setting. So I posted a topic on BAIDU tieba plextv forum, i.e. the biggest topic based forum in China. many people replied my post and 95% of them experiencing the same issue as mine, some of them said if the plex runs in a full socketed proxy network, there will be nothing impacted.

Yesterday the access to plex.tv is slowly recovered, Until now, the scrab service still out.

Please help to locate the issue, if it’s caused by network, please consider provide http proxy setting for scrab service in plex control pannel.

it might help to see your server logs to see when the request fails.

Hi there, this is my log, please help to locating the issue, as I can see, my server always get null from plex.tv, and failure speed is as fast as below 30ms.

Still cannot work.
I’m a lifetime-pass user ,basing in Shanghai.
Not only scrapper cannot work at all, but also infuse on apple TV can’t connect to Plex cause infuse on aptv is not able to load the verification number page successfully.
When could you guys fix this issue…

I’m also having the same issue in Beijing.

The things that aren’t working are:

  • Home
    ** “No content available
    **Check your network connection and verify that any media servers are online.”

  • Movies & Shows
    **"There was an unexpected error
    **Please visit our forums if you continue to experience problems
    **Go to Forums

  • Music
    **Same error as Movies & Shows

  • Metadata agents are not working at all.

Did you guys do something about the issue? My service recovered just few hours ago, I located in Xi’an Shaanxi access via China Telecom.

I have one only question, if the service availablity related to the membership of Plex pass? I am not plex pass member for now.

you should restart the Plex Media Server before you check the scrabing/matching service.

We have not figured out anything as of yet.

I think all of this may related to your CDN provider, i.e. Cloud Flare. Maybe you can start from this.
