I have about 5 active users all streaming different content from my server. When I go into Activities and click on Now playing is lists that I have 2 Streams running. When I look at the active streams I actually have 3 users streaming but 2 of the users are combines into one window with the shows alternating back and forth. The alerts log is filled with spam of each users starting the show they are watching every second or two. Users report flawless playback, most likely reporting error.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
This is still an issue in September 2017 for me. I run PlexPy too, and it’s great, but there’s something a little ridiculous after this long in Plex NOT being able to correctly display information about its own state while a 3rd party app CAN.
is this anywhere on the Plex Devs buglist? 2+ years and still happening, I find it crazy that I am having to switch to a 3rd party app (Plexpy) to tell me what is actually happening because Plex cant!
PlexPy is great, but I think of it as an ‘advanced’ analytics and reporting tool. Basic ‘now playing’ information in the plex web interface can be important when making decisions about content or server maintenance and it would be nice to not have to grab a different tab to see that info (no, another browser tab isn’t such a big deal, but still?!)
I don’t remember ever seeing this problem before about a month or so ago, which makes me wonder if it’s possible that there is some sort of catalyst that starts this sort of behavior. Other users report the problem “going away” after a PMS restart, but I don’t see anyone taking the effort to establish how long it takes for the problem to reappear.
I guess I’m just here to throw in my voice-- what the heck is going on here?
Refreshing the browser window/tab does seem to fix the issue (for a while) but it is strange that you never need to refresh plexpy. It’s always accurate.
It’s not the end of the world after realizing that a refresh will fix the native plex view but it’s still problematic knowing it’s possible to do it better with less headache for the end user, yet the problem continues with no real acknowledgement/communication from Plex devs on the issue.
