Today again Plex has been innaccesible, about 19:35 p.m , i couldnt access by local, but now The icon tray didnt dissapear. I had to close plex and start ir again to work.
These are The logs
I Will try do what you said me, about The logs of Windows.
I dont Remember what i was watching at That time, because was a friend
We should be able to find it through making this request in a browser
http://192.168.1.38:32400/library/metadata/248423?X-Plex-Token=xxxxx
You can find the token string in the registry in this field - select it and copy it and replace the xxxxx with it
Regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server\PlexOnlineToken
Would like the media file plus any sidecar subtitle files - zipped to see if I can reproduce the issues observed in the previous set of logs
I can’t see evidence of failure to access at 19:35.
I would like to have a copy of this file - zipped to see if streaming it on the LG TV with subtitles had a bearing on the problem
Z:\9 Drive\DiscSereight\Locke And Key\Temporada 3\Locke & Key - 3x05.mkv
and if there are any sidecar subtitle files as well
I had gone a few weeks without a deadlock since updating to 1.28 but this week it suddenly started doing this again. It looks liek the same issue where the app itself does not close, but the server goes unresponsive. I included the logs from my most recent crash.
I restarted my computer and Plex won’t start anymore.
The logs are not helpful either and I’ve tried using an installer to repair it. Crash reports are completely empty too…
Edit: installing mouse without borders nuked my media server, restoring to an earlier point fixed it for me
Plex just crashed out of nowhere. I was just watching a playlist and now I’m getting the same startup crash. I think it could be the latest update breaking things?
Enable debug level logging. Otherwise the logs do not contain enough useful information.
Do not enable verbose logs. That adds too much information to the log files.
Not sure why you picked on these 2 specific log files.
What time did Plex Media Server go unresponsive ?
The server log you attached covers 08:32 am to 4:16 pm for the 6th September. There is no sign of any unresponsiveness during this period
Best to have included the zip of all the sever logs - by downloading the logs through Plex Web after a restart following the hang. If it is a hang / deadlock, then there is also need for list of connections and a process dump at the time - see
As advised by @FordGuy61 please make sure you run with server debug logging enabled. You appear to have disabled it
Make sure you restart the server after enabling the logging so that the logs start with debug logging already enabled
When the problem occurs, restart the server and download the server logs through the Plex Web Settings / Help and Diagnostics interface
Please attach the whole zip file for the logs rather than individual log files
Also - we do save copies of the minidumps into the %TEMP% directory for the windows account Plex Media Server runs in. The filenames will not have any filename extensions and will have filenames that look like these
The %TEMP% directory is normally the folder C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp
After a crash, please look for files with names similar in syntax to these two - the last modified date/time will be around the time of the crash. Please zip any that you find and attach with the server logs zip
I’m on 1.28.2.6151 and this crashing/locking up is still happening, SSD has been replaced just in case there are any issues with it but everything is working fine except Plex.
I have Upgraded from Server Version “1.28.1.6104-788f82488” to “1.28.2.6151-914ddd2b3” and now my server crashes within 3 minutes of starting up. I have narrowed it doen to the “Clean Bundles” Feature. Either when it runs auto or when i manually run it it immediately crashes the server. This issue “(Library) Running a Clean Bundles operation could crash the server (#13787)”.
I have run repairs on my Dbase to check if anything wrong but that fixed nothing. I did run the logs as prescribed here and I could not really see anything major wrong. I tested rolling back to my prev version and everything works fine again. So there is something new in “1.28.2.6151” that is unstable. Attaching my log from before I downgraded. I ran the clean, crashed started server downloaded logs and presto Plex Media Server Logs_2022-09-11_20-58-14.zip (1.8 MB)
I hope it helps and something can be found Please.
If you have this set, please look for dmp files within C:\Users\Christo\AppData\Local\CrashDumps
and if you see any for Plex Media Server, please zip and upload to google drive / dropbox etc and send me a link by Private Message
I have a question on your setup
I can see that at Sep 11, 2022 16:36:56 you Launched Plex Media Server as a service -
But at Sep 11, 2022 20:54:47, whilst the service process was still running, you launched Plex Media Server.exe directly - so I think at this moment there were two instances of Plex Media Server.exe running - one as a service and one as the normal process
Having two instances running could lead to corruptions and indeterminate outcomes
At Sep 11, 2022 20:56:10 it launched again outside the service - was the service disabled then ?
To progress this I need crash dumps for the crashes - so please look the CrashDumps folder - if none there, create the folder and make the registry change and try and repro the crash with Clean Bundles action and get me logs and zipped dump file
I do not see any evidence of Plex Media Server trying to capture the crash - the last captured by our crash reporting was in July according to the logs - hopefullly that is because you have made the regedit and there is a dump for the crash at Sep 11, 2022 20:55:20 in the CrashDumps folder
Please make sure you either launch Plex Media Server as a service or outside the service and not both - Check if you have auto start on login enabled - See if you have an entry in the registry here for the User under which Plex Media Server runs Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Plex Media Server
I can see a memory allocation failure sometime before when processing Season 3 of \\Doris4\tv\Chicago Fire for Intro Detection - Wondering if it is feasible to zip the 23 episodes into several zip and let me have them to see if we can repro the memory usage issue ?
This memory allocation error was sometime earlier on at 03:38 am
I would like you to enable memory usage logging for Plex Media Server - see this support article Advanced, Hidden Server Settings | Plex Support - That would show if memory usage went back to normal level after a failure as seen in the logs
Please restart the server after enabling the setting LogMemoryUse through RegEdit
During the TV Library Scan, I can see that the server logs were reporting a lot of slow db transactions - whilst processing media for \\Doris4\TV2\Parks and Recreation\ - is it a large Database ? large libraries ? You could get me a zip of a download of the database to see how large the database is
Any issues on the D: Drive ? Anything related to disc performance / repeats / errors logged in the Windows System Event Log?
The crash at 14:28 was the type of crash that is normally due to using a lot of memory
Sep 12, 2022 14:28:18.964 [6084] ERROR - Thread: Couldn't add a new thread to the pool of size 7: boost::thread_resource_error: Resource temporarily unavailable
So the logging of memory usage would help with investigating this
Upgrading to the 64-bit windows build would probably make the problem go away - but I would like to get an understanding of the cause
Further to my earlier post, on restart after the crash at 14:28 - the scan of the new media for \\Doris4\TV2\Parks and Recreation\ was again running and evidence again of slow db transactions - was this a crash or just server inaccessible ? Did the process disappear at 14:41 or just hang ?
What Application Events are in the Application Log in Windows Event Viewer?
Again - here would like to know if any disc issues round the time = between Sep 12, 2022 14:33:14.33 and 14:41:32 logged in the windows event logs
and one more follow up - for the 2nd hang at 14:41 - the server was actually running an analyze of the tables and that does lock out the server and on very large libraries / databases, could take minutes to complete
Would be good to get zip of the database downloaded through the plex web interface or copying out and zipping
D:\PlexServer\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
D:\PlexServer\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-wal
D:\PlexServer\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-shm
D: drive is an SSD which is dedicated to the PMS data files. The PMS application is installed on C: Drive (another SSD). Chkdsk says there are no issues on D:.
There weren’t any errors in the Windows\System event log in the AM on the 12th.
The PMS process crashed - the tray icon disappeared.

Each time this server boots the Intel RST service fails about 2 minutes later. This doesn’t seem to impact the server operation (its been like this for years).
